I have made and correct my own share of bad domain choices too.

So many horrible domains here, almost everything should be dropped and start over…

I think proved his point most domainers trade in garbage domains with the exception of a few listings, this is an utter insult.

I hope he’s not trying to make a point and set everyone up to make fun of them. That would be very rude.

See my comment above. People are doing people a service and a favor if they let you know your domains are worthless junk. A lot of people won’t say anything and let you spend your time, life and money for nothing.

I must say – “Try Marijuana” is absolutely hilarious. And even though I only support medical use and not “recreational” use, that domain is definitely worth $10k and potentially much more. Could be a six figure domain.

    NetNut[.]com

A one of a kind domain. 2 one syllable words that are identical except for the vowel in the middle.

When you think about it, we domainers are all net nuts and people like Rick, who had the foresight to register domains when nobody was doing it- are the original net nuts.

Today only. A Rick Schwartz special. BIN=$10,000.

    Good day!
So far I see none of these domains to be worth it.
Most I would pay nothing for. I would not want them.
I would like to see what Rick buys. I would bet one or less. My first thought was NONE, but you never know.
IMHO if a domain is worth 5K it is also worth 15K. What?
Yes, domains are not like used cars which have a pretty much fixed value. I started when Rick did and for the most part we feel the same way.
Example: I do not buy much these days as I do other things.
I was looking for a certain “We Buy” domain. I stumbled across “WeBuyUsedCars.com and WeBuyUsedTrucks.com. I have zero interest in used cars and trucks. That is not what I was looking for. However the pair was 6500. That seemed reasonable. I bought them. They would have been reasonable for 4500 and also for perhaps 8500. So good domains are not price sensitive. So what are they worth, and does the price matter?
NO! Let’s say I want 50K. In my opinion these are top for what they are. So if someone wants them it does not matter if they are 35K or 60K they will pay it. The price (within reason,) does not matter.
Sorry people but so far the submissions are mostly slop.
The non .com are almost worthless/ Rick can chime in. A handful are not bad for an END USER but not for a domainer to write a check for. NO chance. Boatworks.com is one of the few decent examples. If I owned a boat shop I might pay 10K for it. Not bad. But as a domainer I would not pay anything for it. I do not want it. You are better off paying more for better domains.
Do most of you know what it takes to start a new business?
Plenty to do it correctly. What is one going to do with addictedgamer.com? I would not want it for the holding fees! (no offense)

I find it amusing when people post anonymous negative comments with no examples of their own. Seems like this guy is stuck comparing it to auction prices. Let me break it down for you, NO one is going to sell you domains at auction prices. Waste of time.

If you wouldn’t want BoatWorks.com then you may need to broaden your horizons, or maybe just your own logic: “If I owned a boat shop I might pay $10k for it. Not bad. But as a domainer I would not pay anything for it.” Uh, isn’t the whole objective, as a domainer or investment business, to sell it to the boat shop for $10k? Not sure why you wouldn’t pay anything for it knowing it is worth $10k to someone. Besides that, your language is intentionally limiting. Why would it be limited to a “boat shop”? Why not a boat accessory manufacturer or a sail boat/yacht dealer. There is already yacht repair and fabrication companies with similar names. If a yacht company reached out to you, you would really start at $10k?

When you say non dotcoms are mostly worthless, I agree with you 90%. But what about domains like Lifi.tech and Lifi.us? Do you think they’re valuable? I don’t mind if Rick chimes in here.

I hate to say it, but I really got a lot of laughs here. I’m not being unkind, however. The only reason I’m willing to say it and laugh is because I too have done my share of huge mistakes over the years in bad domain choices. In short, I’ve done it too.

I would think for the $5k to 10K range rick would want really aged, strong 2 keywords 10-12 characters or less and single dictionary words .com only. Which is why I offered mine aged 16+ years domain half below at $2088. Mine was the first name I noticed, just a coincidence.

Nick, seriously, how could you think anyone would want a domain like that, except *maybe* in it’s referenced region (and seems like a big “if” pending further review)? However, you have posted three that I could see a guy like Mike Mann eventually (maybe) getting something out of, and the rest you should drop. I would probably drop them all though, though I’d like to first look into “afactor” and “thecreditcards” and “justinked” a bit further before I did that, and have dropped much better before. And trust me, “Surging*” is pure crap among crypto domains, just drop it and start over (sorry, but this is to your benefit whether you agree now).

Okay, Nick. There are 4 posts here by Nick, 3 by “Nick” and 1 by “nick.” All have the same image, probably just a default. If people are going to use names like that good idea to also choose unique photos.

Oh and yes, was talking to you. If you only posted the one then disregard everything beyond the first question there.

What do you mean *if* pending further review?

Mine has age, broad keywords, less than 15 characters, .com – music is a pretty big worldly term and I’m sure someone in serbia likes music. I’m not saying it’s a 5-10k domain by any means which is why I priced it much below.

    1. Nick

To end user I think it has 5-10k+ capability though if it was the right end user. I’m not sure if Rick would be considered reseller?

“Big if” is a figure of speech in the US. Just type the phrase into an SE, you’ll see.

You should probably drop this domain unless you are well able to target the local market yourself. Probably close to 0 chance of it being worth anyone’s time and money. Your target market is just too small, narrow and obscure. Sorry.

I have only $20 or so dollars invested in it, I’ll take my chance on it. What do you have to offer, John? Have you offered Rick anything here yet? Not everyone has super premium domains. A guy like Mike Mann…I have no doubt…would be able to net $9,888 – 25,888 for this domain serbianmusic.com he’s sold similiar ones many times. I also feel Rick Schwartz would be able to as well, but if he doesn’t want my name it’s ok.

Take for example this one lifted from dnjournal –

    jungleventures.com $6,000

Now this is a very similiar type of name to mine imo and it sold for $6000. It’s also less aged than mine, and has a “s” on the end for plurality.

DNJ is loaded with strange anomalies that occur. No one can bank on it happening for their own sub-optimal (or worse) domains.

I will end this with this – first why are you focusing so much on my name when there is a TON of garbage domains in this post (and imo alot more so than mine)? And secondly, google lists serbian music search at 58 million results, estibot says it is a high search term, godaddy appraisal says the same thing.

Your name is fine Nick. Some people are over-opinionated with limited sales experience and/or stats, kind of stuck in their own little box. Don’t pay attention to it. I added BuyChocolates.com, and Rick owns BuyChocolate.com so I thought it’d be a done deal with that name. I think there were some decent names in the list, but for anyone to pay $2k-$10k for an investment domain, they really need to have some personal interest in that particular area. Otherwise any one of us could go buy decent expired domains at auction for $500-1k on any given day.

The negative comments on here are a reality of most Internet forums, I don’t think it really matters what domain you list, you’ll probably get backlash from someone, unless the domain is theirs, then they’ll magically add a 10x valuation.

If the following sold at the prices they did, you’ll probably be fine. We just had a Serbian festival (live music, good food, etc) down the street from us in San Diego, so it isn’t just something limited to the country of Serbia.

      SocialMusic.com $60k
      EdgeMusic $15k
      SnapMusic.com $21.5k
      ComedyMusic.com $8k
      RebelMusic.com $8k
      IndiaMusic.com $6k

Plus a bunch of similar names in the $2k-$5k range.

You guys are making a mistake. Long story short.

TryMarijuana.com is the only real potential hit posted here. It’s potentially worth even six figures. If what is taking place with marijuana now was going on earlier in years past, it could even have gone to seven and people would not have thought that was unwarranted. But it’s still got great potential. And once again for the record I personally only support medical use and not so-called “recreational.”

On an unrelated note: I just want to say how in my opinion Estibot has done so much harm to everyone and the industry with their supposed “appraisals.” I don’t think most people realize it. Been thinking about that lately – and the harm I’m confident it has done to my own business.
