The only difference between a dream and the reality is action. The only difference between wishing and reality is action. The only difference between hoping and reality is action. The only difference between anything in life and reaity comes with action No action no results. No results mean you’re stuck. Bad results indicate you’re going in the wrong direction. Good results mean to keep on keeping on.



Two weeks ago today I decided to have this intimate get together in Asheville this summer. Then decided it would be better and more fun if a few more domainers showed up. So a new show was born. Going back to basics.



My dream was born in Asheville (and I hope to have your dream born in Asheville as well) the first time I went to the Biltmore Mansion. I was sitting at their outside cafe and the call came from Kaplan Educational in New York City came in on my Motorola Flip Phone. They had agreed to buy eScore.com for $100,000. Theory turned into reality for the first time. No longer was investing in domains some crazy idea. Now it was proven. And the fuel to go to the next step was re-ignited.



We have an agenda planned. Hope you like it it’s a work in progress. But it will be based around certain objectives that I will explain more in depth when a podcast I did the other day gets published.



Now it's official!! The contracts are signed the deposits are given and I must say it was an interesting sprint doing this in just 14 days. In 28 shows I produced with T.R.A.F.F.I.C., none ever went this smoothly or quickly.

Just lay your cards on the table and allow the other great minds in the room mull it over.



When great people that have a degree of success in life actually know what they are doing and don't have an agenda get together, GREAT things happen! I have proved that many times over the years. This is T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 2004 redux armed with 15 years of knowledge, progress, and more grey hair. A model I devised and others have copied and have lasted a long time. But it was always hijacked by sponsors that were worried about their bottom line but not our bottom line.



So, now after a 5-year show business retirement so that I could get out of the way of the gTLD noise, it is time to show and time to go back to the future! Trust that I have a good recipe or I would NEVER EVER ask you to leave the comfort of your home. Come armed to help others and you will help yourselves.

Sunday August 4, 2019...By now we have spent a lot of time together and discussed many things. Some folks will be staying a few more days or might come to Asheville early. Or maybe you just have some extra time. Here are the 5 things you might enjoy that the area is famous for.

I signed yesterday for $23,467 to put on this event. Win lose or draw.



Right now I have 25 folks indicating their intention to come. As you know, this is a SELF-FUNDED event. It is a NOT FOR PROFIT event. It is for the benefit of DOMAIN NAME INVESTORS! Those that come will share the expenses. All I am doing is fascillitating and financing.



As of right now, I am basing on just 50 coming and the shared cost is about $250 per person. However, that cost will be going DOWN, not up. We have a domainer friendly sponsor that will be helping out.



And speaking of sponsors, I think being selective is important. Any sponsor coming has to shut off the marketing pitch. This show is not going to be hijacked with your agenda. Look at it via our eyes and what you are going to do and help us with. We already know what you got. Now help us do some heavy lifting in a casual environment. This will not be a spam fest.



It takes the hotel about 2 weeks to set up our page to reserve the block of rooms at the discounted rate I negotiated. Shortly after that, I will set up a registration page, and away we go.

The Truth Lies somewhere in the Middle?? TOTAL NONSENSE!!

I hate the phrase, "The truth is somewhere in the middle." I reject that. Always have. It's total bullshit. That in and of itself gives a LIE, much more weight because the TRUTH is already compromised. DUH!



In situations every day from courtrooms to a car accident it is not surprising when one party outright lies about the facts. So, if you are accurate and tell the truth and folks use that flawed standard as I described, then what??



My deceased brother was a great bullshitter but he also was a liar. I saw him in action. He would lie about something and I would challenge him. He would say they are lying too (talking about the other party) and the only way to confront a liar is to make up your own lies. He said nothing makes them crazier than dealing with another liar. Touche!



He explained about lying and perjury. He said if they locked up everyone that ever lied in a courtroom, half the population would be in jail because in the courtroom it is not uncommon for one or both parties to lie. That's what a court deals with and tries to filter thru. Lies! But you can't compromise the truth and the facts.



Lying is a bad deal to begin with. It's weak. It shows a lack of mental strength and character. Sometimes, maybe even most times, people understand the truth. And circumstance and motivation etc. Compare a mother of newborn stealing baby formula from a supermarket vs. a man stealing a bottle of wine. I might call the police on the wine guy, but I would give a case of baby formula to the mother and then follow-up in the days ahead to make sure the baby was ok and had formula.



I see countless people in life that lie as a routine. There is not even a reason for most of them to lie, but they do it out of habit. They are wired that way.



As I explained yesterday, once a salesperson lies, game over! See I have only one real allergy in life. I am allergic to bullshit and I can't stand liars. So, the only way you can handle a liar is to avoid them or invent a bigger and better lie to make them nuts. They have no plan for that and they will wilt on the spot!



The truth being in the middle is a copout. It seldom is. Deciding who is credible and who is not is a harder task. So never be mentally lazy when you are trying to figure out the truth.

Sales: The Art of Persuasion​​. Then SHUT-UP!


Morning Folks!!



Sales are about the "Art of Persuasion. Persuading someone with no interest to have great interest and eventually buy. Persuasion starts with a seed followed by reason and benefit. Not the benefit of the seller, but the benefit of the buyer.



The benefit of the buyer? How do I do that? I don't even know the person. Well, you ask questions. But you have to be delicate in the way you ask those questions. Again, you must have finesse. You may even go over the line, but you can reel yourself back in.



You don't sell by pandering. Pandering means you tell folks what they want to hear even tho you know full well you are lying through your teeth. Once a salesman is caught in a lie, GAME OVER! You lose. The hard truth will Persude. A hard truth instills trust. It gives credibility and even respect. Especially if the last salesman they talked to looking at whatever they were shopping for did not disclose whatever it is you did.



As long as a customer is asking questions and trying to stump you, you are on the path to a sale. Objections in a courtroom are not good. An objection in sales is like a steering wheel. You can't make a sale without it. You want them to throw everything including the kitchen sink at you. Once they run out of ammo, you got the sale. Just ask.



Selling is so easy once you learn to stop selling. Your job is to be factual, not to sell. Your job is to answer questions, not to sell. Your job is to expose your own weak points before the customer discovers them, not to sell. Your job only comes at the end. If you do your job well, the sale is as easy as asking for it at the very end. And when they say yes, and they will, SHUT-UP and WRITE!



Most so-called salespeople lose the sale after they have it! Why? They TALKED!! A good salesperson will never open his or her mouth again until the transaction is complete. SHUT-UP!!



The gTLD guys got me as their gadfly. WHY? Because they are some of the biggest liars, I have ever seen in sales in my life and I wanted to clearly separate myself from it. Have you EVER heard a gTLD guy expose their own weak points? Have you ever seen them explain the headwinds they might face or the pitfalls? The leaks? The 150 other Achilles heals I have exposed over the years? Nope! And that is why they will fail. They dd not persuade. They LIED and LIED and LIED! Lying is weak. It's also deceitful.



And since everyone is a friend, they just stand by and allowed it. They participated or turned a blind eye. They encouraged. The domain name industry was hijacked. The hijackers are dropping like flies now. Consolidation is happening and many will and ARE dying on the vine as I predicted. The truth always surfaces and the truth is the biggest persuader there is.



So, just like I can see the EXACT MOMENT that a salesperson loses the sale, I can also see the exact moment that this "Thang" all went to hell.



A Sale is about persuasion. Politics is about persuasion. Dating is about persuasion. Life is about persuasion. But if you LIE in any of those situations, YOU LOSE, and it all falls apart!! Wise-up!

Historic Grove Park Inn Selected Host Hotel for 1st Annual Asheville Professional Domain Investors Meetup & Family Outing!!

I just love when a plan comes together. I have envisioned a domain get together in Asheville for many years. Long before Asheville was a destination. Few ever heard of the place 15-20 years ago. Not an easy place to get to and back then very difficult. Today much easier and a few airlines fly non-stop right into the city.



The Grove Park Inn is the epitome of Asheville. This 106-year-old property is the only place I ever considered holding such an event. I have dreamed about it for years. I guarantee you will fall in love with this place and Asheville at the same moment. But what makes Asheville so very special is how creative the town and the people are. When you see what they have created, and it's all "Home-grown" I think it will help us develop our own creations. This is my "Field of Dreams" and I hope to make it yours as well.



The things that I am still taken aback with when I come to Asheville are George Washington Vanderbilt of the famous Vanderbilt family who built the largest privately owned home in the USA (you can tour the 175,000 sq. ft. home and the entire 8000-acre property) and the fact that Asheville has an incredibly large and cutting edge medical community. It's all homegrown and unique. Just like domaining.

So, I am in the process of scheduling our Meet-up Starting the afternoon of Thursday, August 1st. Then followed by a "Working Luncheon" on Friday the 2nd. Friday night we will party in Asheville and Saturday we will end with a brunch and a fun-filled day of activities. That's the plan. It's not in stone. It's a framework until I know how many and how long folks want to stay.



As for the hotel, if you book a room direct today or at Hotels.com, it is $479. I will secure a group rate of at least $100 less per night. There are other hotels to stay in town and around starting at $150-$200. I have to personally guarantee 60 room nights to start, but the rate will only be available for 14 days once the hotel link is active. I will announce on the blog when the time comes.



August is their #1 month of the year. So if you are TRULY serious about attending, then booking early is critical. I have to limit attendance. I have no choice. I am not going to be on the hook for hundreds of thousands of dollars as I have in the past. This is a dutch-treat event. There is no financial motive. We all pay our own way. But I still have to give personal guarantees and deposits. The rooms alone are $25,000 plus taxes, and the food is another $10 grand. That's just at this venue.



So you can help me take an initial head count of who would stay at the hotel and how many nights you would stay there. I am not out to make money on a get-together nor do I even want to touch the money. I want all payments made directly to the hotel. A truly self-funded event.



I am out for us to make history with domains. And this time it will stay focused on domains investors and furthering OUR SELF-INTERESTS not the agenda of others. It's my vision, and I hope you share this experience with me and others. But whatever your decision is, it must be made soon, and if you decide later on, I am going to have to say no, and I really don't want to do that. It's strictly first come, first served.



I am trying to keep this event private, small and compact. I am not looking for a job so I have a number in mind that is good for the hotel and works for me. If we exceed that number it becomes an ordeal and that is not what "This Years" meet-up is about. Bigger isn't always better. Qualified is! Also, attendees of the first meet-up have first refusal rights on the next one. As charter members, you should be recognized for acting early. Isn't that what REAL BUSINESS is about? What domaining is about? Recognizing the opportunity and seizing opportunity EARLY. Action is the main difference between those that have found success investing in domains compared to those still looking for it.



So, if you are sick of the noise, sick of the slick, sick of swallowing crap for the benefit of others, then it's time to go back to the future when it all began. Let's start anew armed with over 20 years of new information and progress. Let's each walk away with one or more new projects. We are in the mountains, maybe my famous 18-wheeler story will make more sense there because it was in those mountains of Asheville where it takes place!



This is a show by Domain Investors for Domain Investors. It's not a show where all these companies get stage time to push their wares or new gTLD's and domains, and domainers are pushed aside. If we have any sponsors at all (and it looks like we will), it will be to help us not sell us. And also lower the financial burden on attendees. I want to get it as close to free as possible! On the other hand, you will have expenses for lodging and travel. But if all goes well, the food and entertainment will be an incredible bargain as will the deals, relationships and progress made.



I often talk about our "friends" in the domain business and how we should be suspect. However, relationships are different. They don't start with an agenda or a motive. They don't start with one trying to sell the other whatever the hell they have. It's not an opportunity to do face spam. lol, those are NOT friends. They may be colleagues, they may be partners, they may be a lot of things, but friendship is not always one of them. Relationships start with like-minded professionals breaking bread and talking about need, want, desire and common points, or goals and see if anything dovetails. You compare findings.



If you look at my history and look at the history of Domain Investors, you will see that since before 2000 and my original chat board, I have brought folks together. Most friends and relationships in domaining started on my chat boards or at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Whatever some think of me, I have a history of changing lives for the better, and I'm not quite done.

Who is your Social Media Liaison? Can Business Survive and Continue to be Stupid?

That is a serious question that would be met with eye-rolls. "Who is your Social Media Liasson?" Who is the SINGLE person or the people directly responsible for your Twitter and Facebook? If a company has a presence and they can't answer that they are missing something very big.



If you are silly enough to conduct your business on social media, you better have a seasoned representative on duty 24/7. If not, you are negligent and, much worse!



I don't need to know squat about Social Media to point out the important pitfalls as well as opportunities. But a strategy is key. Having a personality is key. Having someone totally competent is key. A warm body will put you outta business.



It's all common sense. Common business sense. Common sales sense. Common sense not to be lazy. There is always time for lazy once things are set. I am living proof. You have to come and identify each and every element or elements lacking if you expect long term success.



So just like a popular restaurant may have a known host or hostess that they know and trust and have the authority to make things happen, Social Media NEEDS and must have those same attributes and personalities if you use the platform effectively and want constant and long term success.



My expertise is looking at ANY situation and clearly seeing the one or two things that can be implemented immediately and usually without cost. Both will show immediate results. Then you move on to the other things less visible but STILL THERE!!! So don't close your eyes to what you don't like. Open them and change it. Stop being foolish, lazy or unaware. And when it gets pointed out to you, be thankful because you just made more m oney and do it all the time.



Early on in 1996 all these sites would use counters on their sites to see how many unique vusitors were coming thru. But they made a huge mistake that was fixed in 5 seconds. That would increasen their bottom line 15%-25% instantly for FREE!! All I would do is explain that counter should be on the lowest left side on the page. That basically eliminated folks clicking on the counter by at least 15%. Voila. Some of these sites were making millions per month. That was a windfall and it helped me garner a reputation.



The next thing was background color and font color and font size. If you think there is no difference, find another career. We are not talking 1% or 2%. We might be talking 50%. So important to learn these things and experiment.



The next was placements of the links so folks would click on what the OWNER of the site wanted them to click on. Herding traffic is a big part of website flow and monetary success.



Some would get angry at my suggestions. Ok, they win. lol I can't stop a fool for remaining a fool or just being stuck. Not my choice. But if they open their mind a bit, their wallets will get much fatter!



I can tell you that most companies need some fresh eyes RIGHT NOW to look at their sites let alone getting social media right. Most sites could double their sales just from fixing the mistakes that they have right now and don't know about and probably don't even care. What a dumb way to run a business.



But hey, the Internet is the Intersection of the smartest, the dumbest and the most foolish. Those groups don't play well with each other as is on display 24/7.

As some of you may know Valentine's Day was especially sweet this year. I can't go into the details, but Capitalism is alive and well. I was able to get my @DomainKing twitter handle and my trademarked name back on Thursday afternoon.



When I left Twitter on 12/312017, there was a note that in 30 days the account would be permanently deleted. However, if you are a verified user with a Blue Check, (which I was), you get 1 year. So I put a reminder on my calendar. 10 months later I tried to reactivate and no way Jose! Maybe I should have tried a direct contact but I don't have much faith in contacting twitter directly.

There are some advantages to having a new and clean Twitter account since anything and everything you say on Twitter can and WILL be used against you. So a Twitter re-birth may be a good thing!



Until the other day, I had been under the impression that once a twitter handle was retired it was never available again. That would have been okay and no need for me to get it back. But just like the 1-year deal, that was not true either. So once it was out there again, I had no choice but to secure it. It's embedded in me. Branding is about not having leaks. If the @DomainKing door does not exist there are no worries. But if the @DomainKing were to bring you to another destination, that is a huge branding faux paux.



Domaining for investing and having a "Domain Strategy" as an end-user is the holy grail of the Internet and what we all do. End-users have a DUTY to protect themselves in every way they can on the Internet. So that includes domains that are close or might be easily misspelled or are confusing.



That's why a gTLD without the corresponding .com exact math is DEAD IN THE WATER. They can point to whatever success they like, any funding they want but they are FOOLS, FOOLS FOOLS and they are FOOLISH when they IGNORE gaping holes in their branding strategy. Would you get on a ship with a captain that wants to leave port with a gaping hole, water pouring in and he just ignores it?? There is NO DIFFERENCE whatsoever! Both are fools and what does it say about professionals that don't realize something so SIMPLE??



For years there has been a battle between Facebook and Twitter. I have to anoint Twitter as the absolute winner as far as identity and business. Facebook is for the family. Everyone I see in print and TV uses their Twitter handle. 2 years ago it was not that way. Facebook led and Twitter was second string. No more! Facebook has been exiled and Twitter rules. The International conversation is on Twitter!



I have 5 pages and many years of blog posts about Social Media and the effects. The way to see the future is by calibrating the past and seeing how it dovetails with the current reality. You will see warnings from many years ago that are clearly evident today. You or I don't have to get it all right. But we do have to get the big stuff right. In business, Marketing, Branding, and SALES are the big stuff followed by LEAKS! Who ignores leaks?? FOOLS! And "Branding" is about circulation and how good your product or service is. My brand is my solid advice and different ways of looking at domains and business and being way ahead of the curve with a record of nearly 25 years. I add to my brand with every post or bit of info that helps me or my readers with valid and tried and true info or when events I predict long in advance actually materialize. Real Business Defined: Starts with “No” Followed by Many “No’s” and Ends with “Yes.”


Morning Folks!!



In the movie "The Jerk" with Steve Martin, he got some fatherly advice on the way out into the world: "You see that? That's shit, and this is Shinola." Basically inferring that now he knows everything to succeed in the real world.



Well in Business everything starts with "No" and hopefully ends with "Yes" or there was no business. Now you know everything about business and sales to go out into the universe. It's the path from "No" to "Yes" that moves the world. Got it?? Remember, nothing happens until a sale is made. Nothing!!!



How do you know a bad deal? It starts with "Yes". Sorry, something is not right when it starts with yes. It's too easy so you have to find out the reason because if you don't, you are about to be s victim of a "Businss Mugging."



Are you shaking your head and wondering wtf I am talking about? I am talking about simple. I am talking about how do you know the difference between real business where everyone wins and one-sided business where you are sure to lose?



Be suspect of the easy deal. Real deals are not usually too easy. There are issues to be hammered out. So when there are issues, and no hammer, "Yes" may not have any meaning. "Yes", maybe a waste of time. When you waste time it could be minutes, hours, days, even months. So, beware of the quick "Yes."



On the other hand, the minute someone says "No" most people think the game is over. Even a so-called professional salesman. "No" is simply the opening salvo to protect yourself from someone else invading your personal space. You have to work up from that resistance. DUH!! "No" means GAME ON! No means YES to a pro!!! No means keep selling I am not there yet. No means keep convincing me. No means they simply don't have enough info or confidence to make a decision and pull the trigger. No to the common man and he walks away with his/her tail between their legs. NO!! STOP!!! NO is the ONLY WAY to get to YES!!! SO SIMPLE!!



Let me repeat....In SALES....."NO" is the ONLY WAY to get to "YES!!!" As long as they are objecting and pointing out the NEGATIVE, you are on your way to a sale. They are doing THEIR job. Are you doing YOURS?



Again, the geniuses of the world have it ass-backward. Finnesse is the way to get from "No" to "Yes." And finesse comes from knowledge. Knowledge comes from breaking the ice after they say "No." Then, without wasting time, a little concoction of humor, banter, finding out their needs and gently getting comfortable with each other. That's the road to "Yes." But every road must start with "No," and that is the wrong time to get discouraged. No is actually an encouragement. They WANT to say yes!!! Your job is to guide them there. Gently, but firmly.



Now that does not mean you get to harass or invade their space or privacy. That dog won't hunt. But you can ask, permission. Permission to contact again. Permission to present something else. Permission to stay in touch. Once you become a PITA, it's over. So don't cross that line. Selling is a tight rope. One cautious step at a time. Selling is simply answering questions fully and giving accurate information. Never lie, never make it up. Your main job is to give facts. As "Joe Friday" used to say on Dragnet when somebody would go on and on and on, "Just the facts ma'am, nothing but the facts.

Announcing: The First Annual, “Asheville Professional Domain Investor Meetup and Family Outing,” August 2019


Morning Folks!!



Before TRAFFIC was born or slightly after, I had a special dinner in Asheville. There were about 10 domainers in attendance. Was a very memorable event and very special. Mike Berkens, Roy Messer, Howard Neu, their wives, and a couple others. I had wanted to do it again, but I started TRAFFIC and the "Richmond Hill Inn," open since 1886, home of the fanciest restaurant in Asheville, burnt to the ground. (Jewish Lightning, aka Arson) But what a memory!!!



That was years before anyone really heard of Asheville as a destination. Today it is one of the coolest, hippest places in the USA and beyond. Some of the best most creative restaurants anywhere and named among America's top destinations in almost every survey done. The latest one was by Tripadvisor.com and got the #1 spot. If I tried to list all the top awards it gets as a city I would bore you. Top 100 places to live in America and dozens and dozens of others. A very special place.



I discovered Asheville by accident. I was in my early 20's and was driving from the High Point Furniture market to Knoxville, TN. Well, I hit an ice and snowstorm and got stranded in this tiny mountain town called Asheville for 2 days. Those were "Days Inn" days. I liked the place and made a note about it. (Asheville, not Days Inn)



A few years later my mom called me. They were in Atlanta with their house trailer in the summer of 1985. It was 100 degrees hot. They wanted to know if there was somewhere they could go and maybe even cool off. So I told them about Asheville. This tiny "Vermont" looking town in the southern mountains with great summer weather. They went and never left. They left their trailer there and every summer for 10 years that is where they went.



In 2004 I bought a condo there. From Realtor.com. Never even saw the place before I purchased. The realtor thought I was crazy. Maybe I was. But I used that place as a starting point to get familiar with the area and look for something more exciting. In 2005 I bought an 11-acre parcel with a large home on it. The house was owned and built by a New York to Palm Beach Socialite and her Doctor husband. They both died shortly after building this really well thought out custom home. It's a mix of North Carolina and Park Avenue. Not a good fit for a family in Asheville but a Perfect fit for me! It took 15 minutes to decide to buy it. And I have spent time there ever since.



To my amazement, a town with a handful of mediocre places to eat at best started to attract many young chefs coming out of these culinary schools like Johnson and Wales and others, and it has now become THE foodie and Farm to Table capital. It's also the microbrewery beer capital of the east as well ranked just behind Boulder, Colorado which I love too!!. But back to Asheville, it's just a fantastic place. It's also home to the largest private house in America. The Biltmore Estate. 125,000 square feet on over 8000 acres.



Asheville, a cool city with a cool summer breeze nestled in between the Smokey mountains of Western North Carolina. Famous Blue Ridge Highway goes right thru it and some of the best white water rafting is close by!


Asheville is homegrown. It's akin to Greenwich Village or Hate Ashbury but so much larger and more extensive with lots of southern hospitality. I love Asheville! Everyone falls in love with this place, and you will fall in love too! It's also a huge music town known for its history. According to Fodor's, "Their music scene is like nothing you have experienced."



Here is a NY Times article about what to do with 36 hours in Asheville. It will challenge you! There is so much to do I hope we have time for domains!!

For years I have been thinking about an Asheville, NC Domainer Meet-up. But early on nobody ever heard of the place and it's not that easy to get to. I am not looking to work or start some business, just a "Dutch Treat" event in which like-minded professional domainers can meet, brainstorm together and pay directly to the venue wherever it is held. I can set the agenda and the venue but the rest is a group effort.



Successful domain investors only who want to be more successful and talk at a higher level. This is a self-financed, non-profit event open to full-time domainers but not unlimited seating. A place with no outside NOISE!



Tentatively, it would take place during the first-week f August. The evening of August 1st ending August 3rd. .I am sure some might stay even longer and make a real vacation out of it. Break bread, party a little, talk a lot, hang out and see where it goes. I am trying to decide what number to cap it off at. Too big won't serve the purpose, and I am not looking for a job. We are talking 3-4 dozen or so (including the spouse or significant other) not hundreds. It must be an intimate event for it to be of great value to those that participate.



I know the exact location in Asheville I want to meet, but beyond domaining, there will be lots of time to explore and enjoy the company of each other as well as all Ashevilleand surrounding area has to offer! 😊



With this post, I intend to gauge the amount of interest (if any) and go from there. A couple of successful domainers are already on board (Mike Berkens, Roy Messer) Those are the only two I have asked their opinion until this post, and they are in! That was just yesterday. And if it is just the 6 of us, that's fine too! It will be great, and it will be memorable. I can't wait! Join us!

One Step Ahead, or One Step Behind Defines Success and Life.

There is a choice in life if you are one step ahead you put yourself at risk sometimes, but you also put yourself in a position to be handsomely rewarded. And as that saying goes:, when you are not the "Lead Dog," the view never changes. Aka Always looking and chasing the Ass in front of you instead of setting the pace and watching the scenery change. OUR CHOICE!



Succeeding is an acquired art. For some, it comes more natural than for others. But success and winning is a repeatable recipe. But you can't repeat unless you keep all the key elements in place. The elements acquired over the years. That's why it is so easy to spot a failure so far in advance or success so far in advance. They wear this invisible billboard that only a trained eye can see.



I wish everyone great success because I believe we each have a gift and once we discover our gift, success will automatically follow IF we act and and seize that opportunity It's like water running downhill. It just happens and you can depend on it as long as you have water and the hill.



We are all slaves. Period!! If you want to eat, have shelter, and you were not born into wealth you are a slave. We don't own our own time, and we don't own our own souls, they are mortgaged to the hilt. So we are slaves to these bills. You can be a slave to renewal fees on domains and all your other recurring bills, or you can be Master of your Domain. It's just 2-ways of looking at the same thing and then putting things in order.



Be a slave to a good work ethic. Be a slave to efficiency. Be a slave for your dream idea. Be a slave to your own being, your honor, and your character, and you will be disciplined in many different ways all designed to free you of those mental chains. Slavery today is mental, not physical. If you are a slave to bad habits and wrong-minded thinking, it is you, and only you holding yourself captive. Now you have the key, unlock your mind and critically think about everything you believe and see which thoughts survive with your new found freedom.



My advice, don't be a slave to anyone but yourself and your concept and your work ethic. As a slave, it deprives you of the time and space to think and apply your own ideas. If your boss owns you, and you are not the boss, you are a slave. When you don't own your own time, you are a slave



People think of just one step as nothing special. I am here to tell you that the difference between you being one step ahead or one step behind is life changing. Simple is what makes the world go round.

Domain Investing: The Slow Dance of Millionaires!!

We are business people. The job of a business person is to make money. To make lots of money. To become wealthy. That's the point, and that's the goal. That's why we go to work in the first place so eventually, we don't have to work. The mortgage on our SOUL gets paid off. Losers and those that think they are morally superior will always tell you otherwise. Not only are they wrong, but they are also lying to cover up THEIR short-comings! Don't swallow their poop!



When we are young, we are basically all idealistic. It comes with the territory. We all go thru that phase, and some get stuck in it. Reality is the day you get your ass kicked and realized there is no safety net. It's all on me, and you and the rent is due! Mommy and Daddy did not spend $250k to put you through school and not find a degree of success. The degree of success, not the degree of paper. You are expected to excel. Mediocrity was reserved for folks like ME! But somewhere along the line, I discovered the difference.



I even recall when it happened. It was in stages. The first stage was the eve of my 21st birthday. But the final booster rocket came many years later, around 1993. I had a very successful home business. It was on "Cruise Control." So, I started playing "Duke Nukem" which was the #1 game of the day and at the same time blew my brains out playing options on the stock market. I got upset at myself. I never lost $65,000 in a day at that time. But that was the day I learned to lose money. Losing money is almost as important as making money. Now I have 7 figure swings in either direction as a common event. It still upsets me when I lose or when I am down. But we need to know the foul lines, and we need to know the pain of failure as well as the good feeling of success.



I listened to 4 Tony Robbins cassette tapes and everything in life changed from that moment on. Until then I was an underachiever. I still am to a large degree. But that was the day I became a man of action.



Today, I could really be out there doing things. I don't want to, I don't need to. I don't have the desire to. But few know the difference better than me between being mediocre and excelling whether applied or not. Domaining was my perfect fit, a slow lazy dance to become a millionaire. Took advantage of both of my talents. And so, I gave mediocrity a bad name. :-)



The incredible opportunity that domains offer is still mind-boggling to me. But domaining is a slow track. It evolves slowly. But so many are frustrated cuz they are out of sync and dancing too fast! I watch and what I see is foolish. Maybe folks are financially prematurely into domaining, to begin with. Maybe think about it as an annual contribution to your 401k. Let's say you can contribute $15,000. I would simply buy and HOLD. But buy GREAT domains. They are all over the place because some domainers need to sell right now. That's called opportunity.



It's like last man standing. They can't hold on to their gems any longer. So someone with a longer time horizon can and so they can get a great bargain. I see them daily. I just don't beleive in buying a domain to flip and think that's the most profitable way. It may be for some, but it's not for most. Domains are a slow dance. It's not a fast track. It's not a racetrack.



Most people don't auction their homes, they sell them. The reason being is you would get killed in most markets and maybe only walk with 20-50 cents on the dollar. So auctions don't bring in the most premium prices. It brings a fire sale price. How can you be in this business and not know or understad the difference?



The day you strictly focus on buying is the day that sales will not only take care of themselves, but you will make more money than ever. Just keep picking good domains. Good fruit. Fruit with juice. Not rotten vegetables with mold.



But gee, there are so many ways to make money with domains. You can also just buy one domain that you really believe has a 6 figure value and spend your year focusing strickly on that domain. Chances are if you did that, you could sell it in 8-12 weeks and repeat it 4 more times this year. Slow dance. Don't try to sell 100 domains, buy ONE damn good domain and focus until you sell it. If you are a good juggler, maybe 2 domains at a time. Then 3. But it takes focus and a SLOW dance.



Need, want, desire, value, and now there is upgrading. There are natural "Step-ups." Companies that can easily upgrade and switch to a higher jetstream. That's the group to focus on and watch. Those are the rising stars that you want to match up with. Be in front of.



My job since I got online was simply to earn at least $1 million per year and do it each and every year. But it was a slow dance. It was a 365-day marathon made up of 365 heats. My focus was just moving forward and achieving specific small goals each and every day, week, month, quarter and year. One foot in front of the other with a sense of urgency but also doing it in a relaxed and enjoyable manner as if it was a full-time vocation vacation, intertwined with life and working to fill in the gaps. Amazing how productive one can be by working calm.



The same domain that you are hawking all over the place and end up selling for $400 or $4000 may be worth $400,000 to somebody that actually wants to buy it and has a need. So dance fast and make $400 or $4000 or learn to dance slow and understand that, that same domain is worth much more when you learn to dance slow.



Fast dancing is excellent, but you are in the wrong club, and you are on the wrong dance floor. The rewards in domaining go to those that are patient and truly understand value. The slow dance to becoming a millionaire in domaining is not selling, it's targeting and understanding sprinkled with some sales ability. Targeting in advance, the need, the want, and the desire. Demand will take care of itself when you have quality and demand will put you out of business when you don't. Value only counts in 4 eyes. The eyes of the buyer and the eyes of the seller. And when those eyes meet, the value is set.
