A new .mobi record? A new auction record?

Good evening folks!!

Below is what may be the best .mobi
domains released to date as well as a fantastic list of premium .com domain names. These domains will be auctioned off at T.R.A.F.F.I.C.
in less than 2 weeks. I would expect at least 2-4 of the .mobi domains will easily break
the flowers.mobi record. I would think that Porn.mobi and Tickets.mobi will
shatter the record. I don't think we are at the point to witness a 7 figure .mobi sale however if we were going to see that, this would be where we would see it. I consider these to be two of the very best .mobi names that you can buy . Risky? You
bet. But the market for .mobi continues to be strong and I expect a very lively auction.

In addition to the .mobi
domains above, this is going to be the single best auction in the domain
business because the quality of the domains on the auction block are top notch.
Here are just a few that have been released. The rest will be out soon.

Hopefully the mobi auction will do great!! But I am a senior in college (UPenn)and I know for a fact that NOBODY types .mobi. Everyone just knows .com and .net and of course .edu.
Why do you think .mobi is a better extension than .net or any of the other extensions out there? Porn.mobi is worth around 15% of the .net at best.

    Rick,
Didnt say that .mobi was better than .net or .com – Just look at his profile and you shall see that he tends to only buy and sell .com domains. – I totally disagree with you as more and more people use there mobile internet these domains are very valuable and again can only increase in price.
Also guys I am looking for a broker to help sell some domains – details available from http://robbieferguson.co.uk
    All the best,
    Regards,
    Robbie

Oh, wait a second. All of these names would never sell at auction because they all make money as a business. I wonder if any of the same .mobi are making money as a bussiness model. Can someone show me a .mobi that is making money as a website only. Where’s the beef?

Just a few quick points. During the next few years noboddy will know for certain if .mobi will work. Some people say show me a .mobi that is making money. What .com was making money in the 80s? Some people will also say that .com is what they will put into there mobile phones instead of .mobi, that may be true, but you have to think outside of the US. You have 3 or 4 billion other people that may want to use .mobi. 80% of my inquirys for selling my .mobi names have been outside of US and with the euro the way it is, it becomes a bargain for many companies. Though the best part of this is that speculation on prices will only increase. Predictions Porn.mobi will sell for 675k.. Just my wild guess.

    Great .mobi list !!!
I agree. I think at least one of these will break the flowers.mobi record.

Don, you make my point. There was no public willing to spend money on the net in the early 90s. There are now 4 billion? Show me the money.

I know this goes against what is currently supported my domainer insiders: BUT…
I am concerned about the development of .mobi. i.e. there wont be any. All the best names have been reserved by insiders. Same thing happened biz and .info and the development of those name endings has been hindered by speculation. .com has thrived only because it was allowed to”fly” awhile before spec hit and ‘regular’ people could register names that still could be considered ‘good’: This is a major concern of mine regarding the industry

Sorry to be the bad guy here, but..All the insiders and speculators have already locked out the entire namespace. Awsome, you got all the best names. But there wont be any development on them. Someone on ICANN posted what makes sense: .mobi is a sham. Fact is, only .com and .org are really worth anything, traffic wise. And domain name endings are in effect meaningless because the ending means nothign: the web is liberalized already so .com site means the same as a .org or .info. Personally, I hope .mobi fails, because you guys were so greedy and locked up EVERY good domain, and i do mean EVERY ONE. Its really bad, man. you gotta let something breath or it wont grow.

    Rick:
I’m with you on everything but the .mobi. I just think the domain cant grow with all the premium names locked out. I understand there is a network of insiders you own a bunch of these things so there is the need to ‘hype’ them.

I think the .mobi domain has a lot of potential. But that is what it is right now, just potential. It’s lousy that they reserved the most useful domain names to sell to the highest bidder. Where is that money from auctioning off those names going? To development? I’d hope so but I’m not sure.

I have to say this: but potential is ‘nothing’. its the same some crappy country code domain that was pumped as something its not. If I spent major dollars for a web domain, it damn well better produce, NOW. Remember .ws?”get your dot website today!” well .ws is nothing today; but it had plenty of potential. .mobi is a boiler romm: its a stock ‘pump and dump’ reliant of the ‘bigger fool theory. Caveat Emptor, my friend, Caveat Emptor…

All domains listed for T.R.A.F.F.I.C are real honey. The auction is like a football in the play ground. Not even the players know who will win the game they just go on to hit the ball, to reach their goal. Similarly many superior domains are for auction at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. and every body can guess the best in their own way. May be not one, more than one can also beat the price of Flowers.mobi. Domain hits in the hands of speculators, domainers & businessmen to prove their viability. Each and every domainer have an eager to note the results of this auction. We win the game if each and every member of our domain community make a solid sale.
    Best Regards.
