The Compelling Case for .Tel, .Mobi and .xxx.

Morning Folks!!

There are certain people who would have you ignore history because when you bring it up they get their panties all twisted in a knot and then have to resort to insults to defend their weak stance based solely on THEIR need not yours.

That was the case the other day and you see a pattern developing.

Now please separate the two issues. There is money to be made as a registry, as a registrar and as someone taking on ads and such. That is a given. I have said so. I said half the industry would be getting JOBS with these folks.  But please put all that aside. We are talking about investing your families money. So is your family or your friends more important? It's a fair question even tho it is a tough one to ask and put out there. I am just saying whatever you do, do for the RIGHT reasons not the pressure some feel.

But that is respectfully tough. Our "friend" Shaun Le Cornu that Berkens posted his comments and then dug a deeper hole in his comments is much less than respectful. He has been insulting. When the facts don't go your way, what to do?

Top 5 reasons domainers don’t want new Gtlds according to Shaun:

  1. Invested interest in .com

  2. Resistance to change

  3. Lack of understanding of new industry

  4. Short term objectives

  5. Old thinking

So here is my biggest problem even tho Shaun would have you and I ignore things like history and facts.  Here you have .mobi, .Tel and .xxx. They have many things in common. But the single biggest thing they all have in common and NONE of the new extensions have is they had a COMPELLING story and a compelling reason for their extensions to have a chance and be very valuable.

.Mobi for Mobile before the ipad came to market but the market was turning to things mobile. So now that .Mobile is coming to market, that will surely save the day. Right?? Are you just idiots that are resistant to change? Line up for .Mobile!! It will make you RICH!

Give me a damn break!

.Tel to hook your phone up to your website.

.xxx to keep all the porn in one place

The registries all do fine. Domainers for the most part have not done fine. These are facts. And these are extensions that did have a story. Even .co. They had typos and it was shorter than .com and maybe stands for "Company".  I still have a few of each in my portfolio.  A few hundred grand buried in the dirt. Maybe more.

The public and end-user is not very interested in these extensions. Are they?? Seen any TV spots? Billboards? etc? They are out there but invisible. Want to tie your money up? May as well just open a pawn shop then and get something tangible in return that at least can be sold. But hey, it's your hard-earned money and if you want to buy .mobi today, knock your socks off.

So when we get to some of the ones I see that have no compelling story, no rhyme or reason are verbs and not nouns are nouns and not extensions, are some of the most limited in terms of combinations that make any sense whatsoever and will never reach the status of .aero. what the hell am I supposed to do? Tell everyone they are the next coming when I see nothing further from reality?

If the gTLD's depended on public support and not your support, only a handful would be viable. The rest would just collapse. Sure Godaddy and 1 and 1 and many others will be promoting. But think how many they can really promote on the top list? So they are not removing .com, .net, .org, .tv, .me, .info, or even .xxx. So they have to pick the ones that are being embraced and the other 880 are where? Let's just say they are off the radar map. I mean I can't even go thru the entire list without throwing in the towel or getting nauseous. Can you?

Soon we will be called "Neanderthals" and "Flat earthers" instead of just making a strong and coherent case and take on the tough questions with actual answers and not this silly stuff that some are becoming famous for. Your words fellas. Wise up before you choke on them.

I would rather overpay for value then get a bargain on .pigeonshit. That is the lesson of history. The hierarchy on the internet has been set and it looks like this:

.com, .net, org, and country codes. Then you have the .me, .co, .tv .info, .biz, I think you can add all the others up and you have less than .mobi.

Metals of value you can list right here and the same amount and see where it all measures up to.

.web is going to try to join that group. That's the only bet in town and that is such a huge longshot.

My next post compares extensions to all the metals in the world. Stay tuned!

Domaining WITHOUT Pay Per Click?! Do you Suffer From Googleitus?

Morning Folks!!

You may want to look at things differently if you PLAN to SURVIVE in domaining. See the dirty little secret is how many folks have failed and gone bye bye in this business. Some rather large players now gone. More will be joining them. Many more. Will it be you? Probably not. But it will be somebody you know.

If pay per click went away today so would 75% of domainers.

Guess what? I think differently because I did not have the tools or some say the handicap and crutches of things available now that make you see everything differently.

Was there Pay per click (PPC) when I started in 1995? NO! Not even a thought if it coming.
Was there Pay per click (PPC) in 1996? Nope!
Was there Pay per click (PPC) in 1997? Nope!
Was there Pay per click (PPC) in 1998? Nope! Google was born in September that year.

So imagine working the first without the benefit or the tools or the outlook of Google?

So while everyone has Googleitus, because that is all they know, I know a world without that disease. That limiting tool that sometimes works against your long term interests.

So what the hell was I doing? I was joining 'Recognized Groups'. Something I did not talk about for over 17 years until just the other day. Becoming part of an invisible franchise. So when youtube.com became the rage anything XXXTube.com was part of this 'Recognized Group' if it had MEANING. MyTube.com would be an example. Same with Facebook and those either starting with 'Face' or ending with 'Book'. That is how a new thing like the Internet expands. A second BIG success in any of those examples further solidifying and value that invisible franchise with no franchise fee. It is an instant trust.

That is why PIZZA is the only thing that needs to be on a sign to be seen 3 blocks away. Putting 'Ricks Pizza' would reduce the SIZE of the reach of that sign and only reach 1.5 blocks. Half the distance and half the audience. The only thing relevant to them is PIZZA! So if RICK is BIG and pizza is small, I have BRANDED LESS SALES. Period!

My strategy was focusing on domains I could see on TV, hear on Radio, placed on billboards and used in Magazines and other forms of print advertising before I even got to the part of the domain that paralleled a piece of property or even a full business. But not just any property, strategically placed property scattered throughout a city that had yet to be built. Manhattan 250 years ago. Repeating itself!

Adult was the first PPC for me. Roar I think. Circa 1998-1999-2000.

So my question to you today is what happens if PPC is no longer an option? Do YOU have an answer other than the lame one. 'That will never happen'.

ok, fine it won't happen. But we all got a huge haircut from 2007.
What will you say when it goes down another 75%? I mean really....do you have an answer?

It was never part of my equation so I can adjust easier than most. But of course I started that adjustment in 2007 as I then watched payouts decline in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and did not stabilize to any degree until Frank entered the scene. That stopped the squeezing but since May 2011 PPC is DOWN not up.

I think we are at an ebb tide. See it is in Googles's best interest to finally get rid of the shit and focus on quality. They can no longer give their customers shit and say how good it is because they can compare results with other outlets. So quality is finally becoming a big deal.

But what if you have SHIT traffic? Do you really think Google is going to keep paying ya? I don't think so. That day is around the corner. And while PPC won't go away, it won't be available to many because their traffic quality has no quality.

So if you are not actively looking and planning for a day without PPC....wft are you waiting for? By the time Google figures out that quality is FLEEING from PPC, what will be left will be the shit and there goes PPC.

Have a GREAT Day!

Orville and Wilbur’s Great Adventure: 36 Months from Fight to Flight to Future

Good Morning Folks...

My partner with JointVentures.com
wanted to title this post “Good Morning Folks...and if I Don't See or Talk to
You Much the Next 60 days: Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night!'.
I changed that title because well, its RicksBlog and I felt like it. LOL.

To
business: As I said the other day, Danny and I only answer to about 120 people
from here on out this year as we build JointVentures.com the domain name into
JointVentures.com the business. I figure that will be a 3 year plan for most of
the initial growth, with a LOT happening this first year. Those 120 guys and
gals signed up as inaugural clients and we’re going to work tirelessly to move
mountains and do deals for them in repayment of that trust.

So I’ll be around here posting and commenting whenever I
want just like always. Danny mostly won’t unless it’s obvious/possible the
commenter is an END USER that followed the river here to the pond and is asking
buying questions…or it’s one of those 120 people wanting to ask a question in
public for some reason instead of simply calling Danny to ask. But
I DO have quite a few “pre-written” posts from Danny
I think are going to give you all even more
idea about how Danny and I work well together, despite the fact that we FIGHT
about certain things too…more of an idea about how much of all we’re doing in
2013 has a precursor in the thoughts and notes of two guys for years...and
reveal some pretty amazing opportunities for folks to do business with us
TODAY, earning money potentially for life
.

In the next 75-90 days as Danny puts 99% of his focus on
completing the 3 or so scaling up priorities he and I have discussed and
decided upon, I think when he comes back into the arena here daily it’ll be
obvious just what the hell he was doing that was more important than crossing
swords with folks on a blog daily (even tho it’s fun). And I do see this as an
“arena”. Maybe it’s just the “Gladiator” movie fan in me! Or that Teddy
Roosevelt quote. Whatever. To daring greatly!

“Good Morning
Folks...and if I Don't See or Talk to You Much the Next 60 days: “Good
Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night!'

By Danny Welsh
JointVentures.com

If you haven’t heard the news, as predicted by Rick Schwartz
and brought to fruition by us both with the help of some very smart and
forward-thinking folks that took the leap with us, as of 2/1/2013 our “domain
owner” JointVentures.com client roster for the first half of 2013 is completely
filled.

Boarding doors are closed. The jet engine is warming up!

We will accept no
further domain owner clients
unless someone convinces Rick Schwartz on
a one on one email that marketing their property will provide a “headliner” for
our company that ALL of our clients will benefit from when a deal is completed
for it. I won’t even see the submissions, and I’m asking our website developer
to remove the “Submit Domains” button on our site…now.

(ASIDE: Okay so Danny P beat me to it, and yet still the
inquiries pour in from all kinds of other methods. Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up,
walk outside on my front porch with Bailey the Service Dog Flunkie and expect
to see a carrier pigeon dropping a domain submission… *sigh* does anyone
understand that I’m just one guy? We all have our bandwidth…400 properties to
market this year is mine)

That’s right, dance
fans. Club’s closed and now for those who are IN, we are going to show you just
what you got on the INSIDE of
…and I hope you’re not disappointed. I’ve been
planning this for two years, but without Rick Schwartz’s green-light it could
not have happened. Without your all’s buy-in alongside Rick’s own, what’s going
to happen in the next 3 years could have taken many more years, or been
completely impossible.

How do we do go from plan to
ever-increasing profits?

Well, First
let me thank you for this opportunity to serve you the best way *I* know how, even as you increasingly realize
that my ideas and plans are nothing like what most people expect.

Please realize I don’t do things the way most companies do.
I admit. I’m kind of a nut. But I’m the nutty entrepreneur that’s about to
crack a lazy industry wide open
and show people on BOTH sides of the table
how doing joint ventures together will break the frame of what’s possible to
increase PROFITS FOR BOTH by a more qualified operator exploiting an
underutilized asset.

Which lazy industry am I talking about?

Is it “domaining” when thousands of Category.com value
assets are sitting UNUSED “parked” and making hundreds of millions of...nickels?
Could be…

Is it “Category” industry when a sales-increasing MVP like Category.com
is on the sidelines and not in the game at whatever price is needed to make it
work for both parties? Could be.

Is there something offensive about me saying that to either
party? Could be.

But forgive me for saying so but when I see 6, 7, and 8
figure assets earning thousands instead of millions…then it only calling a
spade a spade to say that BOTH sides of the table when it comes to the
very BEST and most valuable domain names in the world have been short-sighted,
greedy, and refusing to see what the other party sees…except in a FEW cases
.

My role is to increasingly bring both
parties to the table and create a
WIN-WIN where both sides make more money WITH each other
than they can make without each other.

And that’s exactly
what I’m going to do, and if you think any force on Earth can stop me then you
clearly don’t know the power of an idea infused with faith and backed by ACTION.

Second…we
need to work out how we communicate (and how we don’t).

Our biggest potential problem right now is the likelihood
of “information bottleneck” unless steps are taken to avoid it FIRST
. Rick
and I have to take what’s mostly in our brains only and transfer it to a team.
And we are asking that each of our clients take what he/she wants to
communicate to me and Rick and transfer it to us using certain protocols. “File
transfer” protocol is key…that’s why I put almost one page worth of notes on
that answer/request of ours in the clients FAQ that was emailed out. Please pay
attention to it. You’ll only have to
read it once. It won’t change much, because we ANTICIPATE problems, not create
problems.

If we ever “fire” a JointVentures.com client, it will almost certainly
be for simply refusing to cooperate in this area, and jeopardizing our ability
to keep our promises to others because one person believes they can monopolize
our time and attention
. Unlike something you’ve ever heard from a
“broker” who should be (and IS, trust me) grateful to get your business? Get
used to it! Neither Rick Schwartz nor Danny Welsh are very ordinary guys, and in
an arena where people go ga-ga over 20% income increases we don’t offer
promises of ordinary results…so a few out-of-the-ordinary requests in exchange
for the possibility of extraordinary 20x and more income increase?

I think it’s a fair deal, don’t you agree?

Third, we
now need to get back to the plan I was already quietly implementing for Rick
Schwartz and getting results BEFORE he asked me to take an 8 week side trip
into taking on more clients as his partner with a new domain brokerage. I’m
already 7 days behind in the master plan, but I’m not disappointed. I was
flying a nice prop-plane but Rick summoned a Gulfstream Jet out of thin air in
8 weeks. So I won’t complain. View’s nice.
Company is pretty good, too. I’m already walking the aisles of the plane
and talking to some of the passengers in First Class (that’s you) who have
GREAT ideas on how we can fly this jet even better, more efficiently, etc. Lot
of SMART people in those seats, and I’m listening to everything you say and
incorporating what is good…what is important…and will use those great ideas
when the time is right.

Rick and I’ll be emailing (or may have already by the time
this is posted) a blast message to each of our new VIP domain clients with a
video overview of where we are at and where we are going. I think it’ll give
you a hell of a high level 50,000 foot overview, and confidence that you made
the right choice. If you didn’t get it, that’s a problem. Please email our
admin so you get your address WHITELISTED properly so any mass email
communications we send you this year GO THRU
.

Fourth, we
need to be ruthless about what’s important…and what can wait. We’re behind
because I made that mistake thinking it was “important” for me to respond to
everyone’s emails. It is simply not possible for a guy used to DOING great
things to keep up with thousands of people in the blogosphere that seem to love
mostly only TALKING about great things (or criticizing those that do). Sorry.
Making our clients money this year IS important. Implementing my plan the way I
know it will work IS important.

It is ALSO simply not possible for a guy used to DOING great
things to keep up with 120 new clients that seem to love sharing their ideas
about how Rick and I can market/sell their properties for them.

Thank you for the dozens of blog recommendations emailed
to me
. But forgive me if I say that being expected to read every blog in
the domaining universe = not important. Rick gave me 6 he recommended, and 6 I
have read and will continue to read. A horse that wins the Kentucky Derby has
blinders on and just runs his race, devoid of distraction. It’s GoBabyGo.com,
not StopBabyStop.com…:)
Thank you for the great past leads you’ve passed on to our admin. But
forgive me if I say that taking special time to immediately drop everything and
follow up with 5 year old referrals who were “interested” in a domain property
= not URGENT. Same goes for any company you tell us “should be interested” but
has never contacted you. THANK YOU FOR PASSING THAT INFO ALONG. IT WILL BE
SAVED AND USED IF IT’S SENT PROPERLY TO THE RIGHT PERSON (i.e. not me)! But using it immediately is simply not urgent
when viewed in the context of our team implementing a 12 month plan including a
“domain launch” this year for that specific property of yours
.

I will be posting more about the domain launch formula and
sending some videos of what it looks like and how it works. I’d prefer to just
be DOING it, but Rick has changed the dynamics a little bit of what my 2012
plan was. Now it looks like in a few months I’ll be getting to do it with even
better properties to launch…with more back-end sales help from a team…and
bigger companies to be negotiating WIN-WIN deals with for each to get the ONE
unique asset they most want…with 120
clients instead of 1.

So that’s cool. In short…a domain launch is a formula of
marketing activities completed in a rapid-fire fashion from 3-14 days
start-to-finish during which anyone who should
be interested
and might be
financially qualified
WILL learn about the domain’s availability and pricing
terms because that’s what the launch is DESIGNED by me to do (penetrate
a small niche MARKET with a simple MESSAGE using multiple MEDIUMS
)—everyone…including
your older leads sent to us which have been and will be databased, for firing
once the gun is loaded.

Expect BIG things slowly…
that has been, is, and will always be
Rick and my promise to domain owner clients.

Fifth, I
am not only the business owner but also the chief marketing officer and sales
content copywriter of our little merry crew.
That means the next 60 days I have to write hundreds of pages of compelling
salescopy to create our customized “pitch pages” for 100s of unique domain
names—
individual custom pitch pages which are designed to compel ONE
action revolving around the domain name itself (typically to trigger a “how
much” inquiry but not always)— and targeted to as many as 1000 companies or as
few as ONE person, depending on the needs of the deal.

One fun example you may have already seen is
TerryBradshaw.com.

A lot to get done, wouldn’t you agree? I wrote the content
(200+ pages) for JointVentures.com in a “vacuum” where even Rick Schwartz barely
knew what I was up to for 4 months…now I have an even MORE DIFFICULT task, and
120+ people to whom I’ve made a promise of progress and a possibility of BIG
results that want to know “what happens next?”

I don’t blame ya! So even though every minute I take
explaining what I’m going to do and am doing makes me frustrated…I understand
why you want to know. On the other hand, I will (and can) tolerate only so many
questions before I’ll have to simply say it’s probably better for us both that
I shred your listing contract and call someone in to be a client who’s on the
waiting list.

Priorities are simple. First is hundreds of custom pitch pages. I’ve given myself 8 or so weeks to complete
that next phase of our 12 month plan. Will I Succeed.com? Go ahead. Mark your
calendar for 8 weeks from today. Just do me the favor and before you criticize
me…ask yourself if YOU could do it.

Those pitch pages combined with the sales team we are hiring
and will be training in the next 90 days gives Rick and I both time for
precious little else…but when complete WILL ensure the increasing success of
our deals, our company, and our clients.
THIS thoroughbred knows the distance of the race, will not be distracted, and
knows what the Winner’s Circle looks like
. See you there? I’ll be the one
with a garland of Carnations.com draped on my shoulders (and no jockey).

Sixth, we
need to staff up and scale up certain procedures to be capable of fulfilling marketing
and sales for more domain properties and more clients.

You elected Rick the General when you signed on. And I’m
going to be the Sergeant for now. The Sergeant is extremely important for a
unit to operate, and makes sure “shit gets done” (operations).

But being the Sergeant ain’t my gifting. So I’ll be the
Sergeant until we find someone BETTER, and I’ll move up to where you really
want me to be if I’m going to make us all a lot of money.

The email Rick just sent out (or will shortly) via email
blast ONLY to our signed clients this year lays out a LOT of our plans for the
next few months. If you didn’t receive it please email the admin for a copy,
and they’ll also make sure you get your email program “whitelisted” so Rick’s
email blasts in the future get thru to you.

It’s really
important that all 120 of us are on the same page so we can turn on a dime all
year long.

The plane is built.

The passengers are on board.

The pilots have a destination.

The instruments are being checked.

The crew is about to hear the “last call” to board
immediately thru the crew only door.

The journey is almost starting.

So if you’ll allow me to extend the aviation analogies…if
you’re one of the select 120 inaugural domain owner clients of
JointVentures.com, we’re gonna GoFirstClass.com, okay?

Play it cool. Chill out. Relax. Stretch out with all that foot room.

Realize you’re in the First Class
Seats and the plane is taxiing the runway on a heading for a 3 year flight
where you already know where we’re going because Rick told you so almost over a
decade ago when he first predicted this journey...and the destination.

Here, have a mimosa.

You’ve got Rick Schwartz and Danny Welsh in the pilot seats. Or as Rick calls us “Orville” (me) and
“Wilbur” (him). We may not be the original Wright Brothers but I can tell you
this: if we accomplish what we’ve talked about accomplishing in the next few
years…then everything so far ever in domaining is about to look like that first
7 second flight of that first rickety plane in Kittyhawk, NC all those years
ago compared to what is about to transpire in the future for “domainers”.

Ballsy claim? Yeah. But if we succeed at the level we’re
capable of…and I’ll admit…it IS a big IF…it’ll have been TRUE.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing with you our entire
unique asset (that’s your domain) marketing funnel and launch formula, what it
looks like, how it works, etc.

You can post the mindmaps and videos I send you on the
internet for all we care, because no one can copy ME and no one can copy Rick
Schwartz. But until TRAFFIC we MUST be “close to the vest” about a couple of
things. Whenever we email about those things, it’ll say so. Cool?

The rest, if Rick
and I know it, you get to know it too for trusting us to go on this journey
that is designed to help Rick accomplish his long-term vision
: an income stream attached to 100 growing
companies, into which he contributed only the domain name
.

I am grateful to YOU (clients) and Rick (my partner, and
your negotiator) for helping ME provide a WIN-WIN deal for those 100 companies.
Some will be attached to Rick’s own domains, some will be yours, but if I’m
successful then in the next few years the Candy.com style deals will become
“commonplace”.

All I’m going to be
doing starting in mid-April is putting one huge Fedex-Logo-Style “Generic”
arrow in the sky after another pointing to GENERIC.com no one in the “GENERIC”
business will be able to ignore when they “SEE IT”. (aka domain launch after
domain launch)

The domain names don’t sell themselves and you all know
that’s true. Nor will they sell themselves when paired with the right “offer”
(custom pitch page) or price (lease), but I can say this: once that RIGHT end
user company for each great domain name “SEES IT”…they WILL want it, and Rick’s
job is to work out how they can have it for the right price and terms agreeable
to both parties.

It’s called a seller’s market and right before your very
eyes you’ve all just seen Rick Schwartz mastermind gaining legitimate “listing”
control of 300+ domain name properties arguably better than many of his
own…(maybe I helped :) )and you all know how good Rick Schwartz is at “timing”,
right?

Is there a “domain broker” on the planet who could have done
what Rick Schwartz and Danny Welsh have done in 8 weeks? In 1 year? If so,
PLEASE give them my contact info because they’re selling their work too damn
cheaply.

So we’re about to hit critical mass and LAUNCH unless the
folks in First Class (that’s you) are unable to to hang out, relax, drink a
mimosa or two and chat with each other instead of wandering around the cabin
asking a million questions and knocking on the cockpit door. :)

The folks in business
class seats are happy to pay you to sit on the beach just to get what you’re
not using to earn anything more than those millions of parking income nickels.
I know because I was and AM ONE of them
(you do realize that while
Rick and I co-own JointVentures.com the BUSINESS I don’t yet own JointVentures.com
the domain name, right?).

The folks in the economy class seats can make a choice:
complain or cooperate
.

It’s always their choice, but the www.imitation.jets that’s
$8.99 in 2013 will NEVER IN OUR LIFETIME equal www.Jets.com.

They will see proof after proof of that in the next years.
Sorry, ain’t even debatable to me or Rick. And if you believe THAT…then there
also ain’t no hurry, but we’re going to move with a purpose anyway.

In the coming days
and weeks you’ll see that we will give a LOT of $$$ opportunity to some really
sharp people who want to sell leasing the most premium Category.com style
domain names available on terms any smart “category” company is going to
recognize is a STEAL.

Before the “conversation” shifts 100% to building our sales
team and then both they and we shift again to only talking to the companies
that want to lease….

This is a last mass message
to our JointVentures.com domain clients…If we don’t talk much in the next 60
days…know that I’m working hard for you and a team is being formed to do the
same.

So until then, you may hear Rick Schwartz say “Morning
Folks!” many times in the next 60 days…

But I won’t be able to do that so much (even if the
pre-written “post” has my name on it). ;(

From me…as Jim
Carrey’s character might say about the Rick and Danny Show…

In case I don’t see
you later:

Good afternoon, Good
evening and Good NIGHT!

Danny Welsh
JointVentures.com

P.S. See you all in May at Vegas for TRAFFIC!

P.P.S. NOTE: To
readers of RicksBlog who are NOT clients of JointVentures.com this year…We are
almost ready to return you to your regularly scheduled programming…but not
quite.

If these recent weeks’ bull-rush of ideas and a FIRE HOSE of
value from a guy you’ve never heard of speaking as an authority in sales and
business bothered you simply because I’m giving value AND selling at the same
time…perhaps you should look at whose name is on the blog. Not mine. You gave
Rick permission to talk to you and share stuff he thinks is of value the moment
you visited his blog and subscribed. Recently the most newsworthy things he has
shared…it just so happens that it’s me sharing it on his behalf…and he owns
half of it. So our next pre-written posts
will mostly, with Rick’s blessing, detail our exclusive sub-broker sales
opportunity.
'Who else wants $500 cash plus 5% of $5000/mo for as many
as 5 years or more and then a chance for 5% of $5,000,000 buyout?' kind of
thing.

Targeting Elephants and Ignoring Mosquitoes. How Much is Your Property Really Worth?

Morning Folks!!

Advertise for elephants and you get elephants. Advertise for Pigeons and you get pigeons. You can fish for fish or hunt for whale. Both are the same. One result maybe 1000x the other.

So Over the years I have heard the promises of increasing your payouts by 10%, 20%, even 50%. I know first hand that parking on one platform vs another can have huge differences. I have seen swings of 400% on domains earning hundreds and even thousands a day. It's a FACT!

During the last payout collapse around 2005 Porno.com was down to making $1000/day. I switched PPC companies and that number went from $1000/day to $4500/day, overnight. How is that possible? That increase did not last for 1 day or 1 week or even 1 month. In FACT that level payout lasted until mid 2007 when payouts started sliding and have yet to recover. That is why I think many folks are just full of shit. The numbers prove it beyond doubt. So swallow whatever you crap you like to swallow. I'll pass on that bullshit. Do the math on the millions difference.

This is the FIRST time I have ever made this public. But it is part of history and time to put in on the record. The increase was not just for porno.com. It was across the board. My income quadrupled overnight with one flip of the switch. That was in the wake of getting $30,000/week for the previous 5 years, 1998-2003. From 2003-2005 payouts were still fairly strong by today's standards until the 2005 ppc decline. Or so I thought.

So you might ask yourself will payouts ever rebound again? The answer is still yes. Things go in cycles. Payouts from my view bottomed out the day Frank Schilling opened InternetTraffic.com. Now we have had ups and downs since then but that was the bottom from what I can see and it has been sustained for over a year and I see some pockets of strength.

So how much is your traffic really worth? A hell of a lot more than you think. Can you still take a domain making $10/day and have it make $100/day? Yes.

Two things happen when I talk about type in traffic. Those without it have to make a statement about it. Those that do have it understand exactly what I am saying. The first group is not even sure there are type in and if there are they are not sure how meaningful they are. They think the world revolves around faking out Google or at least being a contortionist and trying everything in the book for that traffic. For most, even when they get Google traffic it is 10 visitors, 20 visitors, maybe 50 or 100 in over 90% of the cases if that. And likely not as targeted as you think because you had to use 20 keywords instead of all focused on 1 keyword called the domain name itself. That is the ONLY keyword I care about. Bulls-eye!

So let me fix that. There are about a dozen multimillion dollar parking companies with Google and Yahoo buying over 90% of all that invisible traffic. PPC has led the parade for as long as I can remember once it was invented before Google was born.

Tyoe-in traffic is the foundation and they will NEVER be able to stop the flow of that very valuable GOLD! And if they don't type it in they will talk it in. Human behavior trumps all. It's what these businesses survive on and why they have rejected so much of the FAKE traffic that had been manufactured for those years before the crash. They paid for SHIT and it took them years and billions to figure it out.

The more type in traffic you have the ore likely success will be in your future if you make good decisions along the way. With no traffic you can do everything right and end up with zip. With type ins you can do everything wrong and still end up with money in your pocket.

NEVER underestimate the TRUE value of a type in. Never underestimate the lifetime value of a customer. Never underestimate big business. They WILL figure it out and that is at the heart of the 20 year plan. They just have one more error to make before they figure out exactly which direction they need to go. When that day happens, you will see what I see and what I have seen for all these years. The planets are getting closer not further. Water always runs downhill. They will always follow the water.

My 800 numbers still get 'Type-Ins' in the way of surfers. If there were no surfers there would be NO revenue on these 800 numbers. Human nature crosses all kinds of barriers and will slip through any obstacle. Domaining IS about type-in traffic or the potential to get it. Yes, there are ways to focus on domains with limited or no traffic that have value. Innovative names that may have value. But no value to those domainers personally until it is sold to a 3rd party. So the game is to sell, sell, sell. But when you have a domain with type ins, the game is hold, hold, hold. A completely opposite plan and thus you have the 2 sides. One side understands both and the other side only understand half the equation. Hope you all now have both halves. And yes, it is as simple as that and time will prove the simplicity as it already has.

I see things differently because I have seen different things over all these years.

How I Use One of the Oldest Methods in The World to Pick Domain Names.

Morning Folks!!

This is really one of my better posts. I feel really good after writing it because I feel like I have finally explained something that is difficult to explain for me. I hope it benefits you as much as it makes me feel good to share it. It also dovetails with my post yesterday.

I think the future will be easier than the past in many ways. There is such a difference of culture, knowledge, know how, perspective that if you just stop, sit back, do nothing, watch things as they are then you can easily pick out the people, places and companies destined to do great things and once you separate that group from the 'Other Group', then why would anyone waste time and energy on the 'Other Group'?

So let's define the 'Other Group'......

I would basically segregate the 2 groups. But the 'Other Group' is just something to clean up, put in a bag, and put away. Not throw away, put away. You may need that 'Other Group' for the next question or even fertilizer or seed.

When I approach domains, the first round of refinement goes into 2 groups. Domains with any potential of having value and those that can never and will never have any value. As I have said before, I can look at a list of 100 names in about 15 seconds and pick out a gem if one is there. We can measure the size of the gem later. First act is to segregate into those 2 groups. Think of it as having 2 laundry buckets on a counter top. You sort them out. The basket with no value gets disposed. It's garbage for this equation. Let the pigeons eat that shit. Professional domainers won't.

So now you have the one laundry bucket filled with the first raw domains. Like a basket of little gems from the mine but yet to be examined in the light of day. So you go and get 2 laundry baskets. One for the potential gems, one for the ones that won't have real value. That is the second stage of sorting.

So you dump one bucket out and you keep ending up with one laundry basket and repeating that exercise until you are left with the FEW domains that have GREAT value. As time goes on we have a full bucket. But even that full bucket must be sorted out from time to time because some domains are perishable, some domains are great but don't have the power they once did because technology has changed or the way we speak changed. Or some other factor changed.

Now the beauty of this is I use this method mentally in everything I do. It is a technique as old as man himself. I can prove it.

Let's go back to farming. Farmers farm. They have to sort through their crop. Just like you go to the grocery store and they have been sorted out a dozen times since it left the farm. The farmer may go through his tomatoes and put it in 2-3 baskets. Ripe, Green, Rotten. He sells the green ones to the market because those need time to ripen. But before that truck unloads it will be sorted. And when it hits the supermarket, it will be sorted again and as I stated above, YOU are the last sorter.

Now I may have some of this wrong because I have never been a farmer and there are always some adjustments. I need Scott Day (the watermelon farmer turned domainer) or Domain Shane to run me through the process. But I guarantee, there IS a process. But the basic exercise works and it works in 1000 industries or 1000 life experiences. All coming back to making a good decision by separating out the bad ones.

They do this in the diamond business to sort through thousands of diamonds at a time. You 'Pigeon Hole' them depending on where it falls on the color scale. It's a universal way of doing things that work for almost everything.

That's why they have a 'Quality Control' guy at the factory. His job too is to sort. Same Principle!! It is just so universal, methodical, and it has been working for thousands of years.

Folks always ask me in an accusatory manner 'What do YOU know about such and such industry that makes you know this or that? I just try and explain that there are some universal parallels between all business and when you match them up you can find any answer pretty quickly because the principles are the same. So those that don't know this, have never figured out will always be at a disadvantage. Folks around them will be working less and making more. That's the bi-product.

Sure, the item itself is different, but the mechanics surrounding it overlap to the tune of 80%-90%. So the adjustment is simply in the remaining 10%-20% and you can factor that in fairly quickly. Minutes to months.

A computer can sort faster. But it does not have as many senses as we do. I do the laundry basket exercise in my brain when I approach almost anything. If I go looking for a new car. I would put the ones worthy of consideration in one basket and dispose the other basket because all the other basket can do is confuse the issue. You don't want that noise. You want to keep your focus without the distractions. Maybe that's why they have car dealers. They can sort by brand so you don't have to go to a lot with 50,000 cars on it and looking for a white Mercedes convertible.

If you don't know math without a calculator you are at a huge disadvantage. If you are not methodical, you are at a huge disadvantage. If you make poor decisions, you are at a huge disadvantage. Some people wake up and their 'Disadvantage' bucket is full before they start. They are so busy being disadvantaged that they never have to to TAKE ADVANTAGE. They work from a deficit.

How does all this go together? I don't know. It just does. It's what happens when your focus is to sort through life and always using buckets to make good decisions and finding answers.

This is just one invisible parallel out of a world with countless parallels. When we discover a parallel, that is like learning in a minute what took some generations. It's the fast lane. Warp Speed. They may teach this stuff somewhere, but for me, it just comes from a lifetime of discovery.

Complainers, Attackers and a FEW Domainers….80% vs 20%. Which are You?

Morning Folks!!

There is a problem in the domain industry. Not enough knowledgeable domainers and an industry about to have a massive change.

I can’t believe how many companies and domainers in the space are working in the blind. How do I put this tactfully? (Insert tactful BS here to your hearts content) Ok, there is no way to really be tactful and say what I see and what is on my mind. Leave “Tact” for the politically correct politicians that don’t seem to have much tact themselves these days.

Every day folks wake up looking for the secret that is right in front of them but won’t do a damn thing DIFFERENTLY to try and find it. They use their energy to whine and lash out. The MAJORITY of folks calling themselves “Domainers” fall into this category. I did not put them there, they pigeon holed themselves a long time ago. Locked their minds away.

I am not happy about that. There are 2000 “Domainers” but in reality we all know that the real number is a fraction of that. 400?? And then a lot of NOISE. Take that 80% noise. Combine them all and they will equal what the #400 domainer earns and knows. You can earn nothing but that does not mean you have to be and act like a loser. You can learn how to emulate a winner until you become a winner. You are what you practice.

Oh boy, they are all getting pissed off at me now. But be pissed at YOURSELF! You control your destiny not me. I just see what I see and point it out. I hope MANY of those 1600 will join the 400 or I would not waste my TIME pointing this out. Lashing out at me guarantees you will always be part of the 1600. Wrong direction.

But it is not up to me, it is up to them and they are so busy complaining, whining and attacking their chances are going down not up. WRONG DIRECTION. But attack me instead of looking in the mirror. I am just stating facts as I see them. If that makes you uncomfortable….change it. Don’t change me, change YOU!

So many are in an industry they don’t understand, get piss poor results and hang out in the forums where there are so many losers and loose cannons that it is increasingly difficult to actually spot a REAL domainer. There are so many competing agendas. They can't spot that either. You need to be aware. Aware of it all.

Having 5000 names does not make you a domainer. It makes you a guy with 5000 names and a bill. Think of it like this. Let’s go back 200 years or so. There is land in New York City where there are millions of people, there is land in Kansas but there are no people. New York will add a million people in the next 20 years before the first person ever gets to Kansas. Land in Kansas may have value at some point. But the key there was it would not happen in your lifetime. THAT is a big difference and since the DAY I got on the net, there has been 80% of the “Domainers” securing land in Kansas and the only folks in Kansas are domainers.

Some started as mediocre and then drilled down to be a loser instead of drilling up and being a winner. One small adjustment to gain huge results. Just a change in attitude and direction. The first step, stop hanging with losers. You are a product of your environment. Hang with winners. Losers are on earth for only one reason, to drag others down to their level and hinder their progress. Just look how they behave and stop supporting it. Support YOU, not THEM! DUH!!!!!!!!!!

How do you spot a loser? If you actually read this and can’t spot a loser after this, read it again. I can spot a loser in one thought. Can you? One sentence. Can you? And if you can spot losers that also means you can spot winners. The more you practice, the better you get at spotting either and then categorizing them. Losers have no place in your life. Do they??

Talk like a loser and you will be a loser. Think like a loser and you will be a loser. Act like a loser….well you get my drift. Talk like a winner, think like a winner and act like a winner, you won’t have time to be a loser. Losers spew shit. That’s what they do with their time. If you can’t spot a loser, there is only ONE REASON.

The worst part.....I don't know very many successful people that don't want to give back. To lend a hand up. To do whatever they can to help the next guy. But no good deed goes unpunished. What a shame. The ones they want to help are just too busy biting and struggling and lashing out to calm down, take a deep breath, stop where they are and recalibrate. They are slaves of their minds and while they think WE have the key, it is really them that have the key and our sin is pointing it out. You may not be able to control your circumstance, but you certainly can control how you react to your circumstance. Turn the impossible into the inevitable.

“Now is the best time ever, so stop whinning and do something!”

Morning Folks!

Yesterday I exchanged emails with a small group. A successful group. Guys I have known for a while and we are all a bit controversial to say the very least. We began talking about the new folks that are struggling and what was really going on with them. I think we came to the immediate conclusion that it was not domain related. It was unfortunate but much deeper.

I wrote the following to them. It was supposed to remain private but one suggested I publish what I wrote and I am just stupid enough to do it hoping something I say will make somebody stop and think and then turn failure into success. Turn a foe into a lifelong friend. I'll have a lot of pigeons shitting on me, but I am an optimist and I know making that lifelong friend makes it worth the effort. Besides, I love when my foes waste all their passion and effort on me. That is a KNEE SLAPPER! They work their 10 hours and I occupy about how many of them?

I can understand it is confusing out there. So many motives, so much BS. But that is your job in life. Don't swallow the BS. Don't be a fish. Know the difference between bait with a hook and food. Unfortunately once you become bait, then others just use YOU and another pigeon is born and another eagle has been grounded.

'There has never been a business with so much
opportunity at every turn at every moment if you know what you are doing
and have a strong wortk ethic. These guys work for 10 hours and brag
about it. 10 hours is a morning to us! So it isn't about domains. They
are losers in life until they change how they think and approach things.
I have been trying to reach these guys for years and few if any
actually make the leap. More did earlier, today, very few. It's sad.

I used to be a loser. I did everything half assed. Then I heard a
line....'If you don't have enough time to do it right the first time,
how the hell you gonna make time when you have to do it right the second
time?' From that moment on I changed my approach and so did the
results. Fucking magic! lol
That is why even tho I like to be very inclusive, we need to recognize
and stick around like minded folks because that way of thinking can only
do harm. Eagles and Pigeons. Not much in between. Pigeons just shit on
you.
I got this the other day and it pretty much states it....'Desire is to
want something but Passion is the refusal to live without it'

I think all these
bozos are about to be schooled. Yesterday EVERY domainer had the EXACT
opportunity to speculate and win or lose. All the big mouths will have
their jaws dropping soon as they watch folks manufacture money from thin
air. This proves they have no talent and just whine. Losers in every
sense of the word. While others are enjoying success and creating even more, they will still be
saying the same crap or sitting on the sidelines spewing hate instead of jumping in and do what a true domainer does and have the balls to speculate. If they can't make it in domains which is a gift
from the heavens, they will make it in nothing.
'

Then as the title suggested, one suggested why not do this as a seminar? 'Now is the best time ever, so stop whinning and do something!' So instead of waiting to October to examine this, why not now?

Have a GREAT Day!
