You Can’t Lease Sh*t!! 2013 IS the Year of the Domain Lease!

Morning Folks!!

The domain game is not changing. The world is evolving. Domains are exactly the same. You have two basic types of domains. Ones with great FACE value and those with NO FACE VALUE. Face value domains are just easier to develop into a business. When a domain has no face value and is pigeon shit on the surface, then the idea has to carry the day.

It's been about 2 or 3 years since I started defining pigeon shit domains. But now it is time to define the very best domains. The domains that mean something. Domains that can transform a business. Even a 37 year old local candy company in New England.

So now we are talking about lease quality domains. As I have been saying...a very narrow field. A long time domain player has also made the plunge into leasing as have others and by the end of 2013 LEASING will be all the rage with domainers for a simple reason. It takes a $10 a month domain and transforms it into a $1000 a month domain. Domainers will RUN at that opportunity.

Each time a company announces their leasing program it will just reinforce what we do at JointVentures.com and why we do it. The difference is the 'How'.

I have poured thru over 30,000 submitted domains and have found 250 that will fit that narrow pipeline. JointVentures.com will distinguish ourselves by the deals we do. Of my own domains I have identified 750 out of 6000 that are what I would call good leasing candidates. So just 15% of my own portfolio would qualify after I let 1000 more names drop in the next 12 months.

Folks don't think they can do BIG things. Well I think in 2013 I will demonstrate when you have a big idea and others see the wisdom in that idea then folks will jump on board. Domain leasing IS the way of the future for domainers. Don't take my word for it. WATCH! Watch what happens and what is happening. It is the way today and it was the way in 1995. How do you vault over all those years?

People talk about branding. I can safely say that in basically 60 days we have branded JointVentures.com. Maybe not to the world. Not yet. But to the domain community. We have branded ourselves and it cost pocket change to do. It was the idea and the domain and the track record. A record that is about to be broken each and every time a new domain company announces their leasing plan.

Leasing has come of age. It is acceptable. It will become more and more acceptable. And it will change lives in a very dramatic way if used wisely.

So congrats and cheers my friends in Turkey and to each and every domain leasing company to come to market! In business the key is staying one step ahead.

Have a GREAT Day!

Rick Schwartz

Deep Breath, You ARE in Control of Your Destiny! You’re no Longer Controlled!!

Morning Folks!!

Why is the future so much different than the past? Because in the past you have been dependent on others instead of independent. That changes in the new era that is approaching. YOU are now driving and you are no longer a passenger in a bus you have no control over.

We have watched massive portfolios come and go. We have watched the game change so sharply that those that played a certain way just got washed away. They left no notes. Did not say Good-bye. No big press releases. Just gone. The rest of us survived multiple tsunamis as far as business goes. But we also changed our game. My portfolio swelled to 10,000 from 6000 and now after 2 years of 'Culling' the inventory, am back to 6000. But I will hopefully get it to 5000.

Some domains are perishable. Some never materialize. Some were a good idea at the time. Some you don't even know what you were thinking. But as we move forward it has become pretty clear where domains of value are and what elements they contain. The ones outside that realm should be dropped and the reason is this. Those 4000 domains were 75% non .com. The .xxx was $99 each. The .co was $25 each etc. So lets say the average is $20/year. That's $80,000 or $800,000 over the next 10 years. I am sure I can find a deal that will take that $800,000 I would have pissed away on pigeon shit in exchange for a top tier domain name. I am sure I can make a deal on a GREAT domain for a few grand a month for the next 10 years.

That's what you call turning a loser into a winner. One little pivot like that could save your empire and then ignite your empire.

It takes 20 years to go through the evolution we are a part of. The first part was a unique opportunity in time when you gathered your properties. Then we spent a period of time learning about these domains as well as this new medium. Thirdly we had to watch and see how things would unfold and develop. That process takes 20 years for the first phase and another 20 years of refinement and expansion. If you know that going into the game, you take a deep breath and play it the way you see it. I see it as a lifetime marathon that will live beyond me. That's why I don't get tempted to make a sale and would rather have long term returns.

Just because folks don't understand a business strategy does not make that strategy any less valuable and in fact and in time that is what becomes clear. But my understanding of what things would look like would have to come out of those mines with at least a handful of major gems and a truckload of other domain booty. Each capable of being a small business. A small oil well. Maybe someday the 6000 will be 600. Well 600 pumping out $1000/month is $7.2MM a year BEFORE we get to the premium ones. Before we get to any success or development potential. It's a silly vision. But it is my vision and not a human being on earth has taken that vision from me in these 18 years and only reality can take it from me in the next 18 years.

I just ask a simple question. Am I closer to that vision now than ever before? And when I look around me I am not alone. There are hundreds of you with similar visions. Not the same. Similar. It means we have been on an intersecting path for all these years and likely to continue that way far into the future. We may all have a vision of NORTH.....But we also understand that going Northeast and Northwest is not a bad thing. And as long as we keep going that general direction we will find north. We know the difference between North and South. We know stopping is smarter than going south until you can adjust to continue the journey north. The journey up not down. Others travel in CIRCLES and go nowhere and get angry when we point it out.

But I got off the path on this post. The point is we are going from a state of complete dependence to a state of choice. Complete Independence. A state that puts domain owners in a strong position. 2012 was a HUGE year for domain owners. And to be blunt, in 2013 I have a mission with JointVentures.com that will be central to what is coming. It's time and it's all about time.

I have written extensively on our plans for JointVentures.com so I am clearly on the record as to what we are going to achieve and how long it will take. A 3 year undertaking that is going to change how we all do business. The 20 year plan does not mark the END....it marks the BEGINNING! We have survived the treachery of attacks from being labeled cybersquatters to outright legal theft thru flawed decisions when nobody was looking and nobody cared. That is no longer the case. Everyone is now in OUR game. Everyone is trying to duplicate what WE did. Everyone that has minimized us over the years are now joing OUR game. Welcome!! About time. Bring your money and bring your visions.

I believe more rulings of reverse domain name hijacking in 2012 is making an impact in these frivolous WIPO actions. It won't go to zero but companies are learning the impact of their actions long after their dastardly deed is done. And if not.......Click here.

But the biggest opportunity is coming in the form of .whatever and what they are about to learn. They are about to embark on a path that we have been studying for nearly 2 decades and so many are missing the one component called 'Human Nature'. Let's give people credit, they will adapt to anything if it is in THEIR SELF INTEREST and it is not complex. They won't swallow the same pig with a new dress. Most don't get that part and that is why most won't make it far out of the gate. But a few will figure it out. Maybe. But none by itself or all together will have any impact on .com except greater value. More demand.

So no reason to poo poo .whatever. There is success and failure all mixed in. One more than the other is all. You will have to carefully navigate through all the caucuses that will be blocking the path of progress. .whatever will be a late night joke. That will give it some popularity. But will it be sustainable?

Nobody reading this knows all the answers so lets stop parading around like we do. However we do have knowledge and evidence and we already have the caucuses lining the road in the form of several extensions that you can fill in yourself. We can just call it the .mobi cemetery and they will soon be filled to capacity.

10 great domains make you a domainer. 100 and you are in a very small class. 1000 and the class is getting smaller. 10,000 your class can fit in mini van. 100,000 and that class can fit in a mini.

The destiny is YOURS! My solution is your solution. Time to harness the power of the future by getting there early as we have done time and time again.

Have a GREAT Day!

Rick Schwartz

Stop Flipping and Start Investing. I’ll Illustrate the Difference.

Morning Folks!!

One ot the most often questions I am asked is how I got started with domains. Here is the answer. I did not approach domains as an item to flip. Besides there was no flipping in those days and only a handful of buyers on the planet. What I was doing was taking excess funds and investing in something I knew would take many years to pay off and take off. But I was willing to invest a portion of my cash and credit in domain names. So That's how it started.

When I started to actually earn money from those domain names I reinvested 100% of the proceeds because as an investment I did not need the $$ to live on. I could parlay what I already had and then parlay it again. My investments were always financed via my earnings.

Think of it as self powered. Self propelled. A solar business that recycled and reclaimed the earnings into more and more buys. Selling was not on the radar because collecting those names was so time sensitive. It was a race against progress. Each day others were figuring out as well. So there was no time to rest until about 2002-2003. The prior crash gave birth to a new channel that few knew of and even fewer respected. But nothing came without taking exceptional risk at the time and circumstance and the size of my wallet. Many were very tough decisions.

The beauty with flipping is there is almost a $0 entry bar. Few other things on this planet are so cheap and have such a huge upside. But flippers should also be transforming themselves into investors because that is a long term plan that will always pay you even when you don't work.

Flipping is a way to get started. It's a way to make a living. A good living. But as a flipper you should know when you have something in your hands that should NEVER be flipped. That's the point of this post. Flipping the ones that should be investments in your futures.

A guy that starts out today has to match his wallet with the patience to see it through. Clarity comes in time. There is so much more clarity today and that gives new folks opportunities as they come with fresh sets of eyes and new tools to work with. But they need to buy investment grade domain names not just random pigeon shit. That's the #1 reason domainers fail. They pick pigeon shit.

One thing I can tell you. Many domainers don't really understand what the numbers mean and they use Google numbers as a compass. Those numbers reflect so much broader terms and subjects than you think so many over estimate the value and usefulness. That leads them into the wrong direction and usually a black hole. I hear about exact matches and such but then the domain gets zero type in traffic. See the disconnect? It is about type in traffic. It does not have to be a lot. 10-20 potential customers a day have value. 0 has very limited or no value unless the domain can stand up on it's own. What does that mean? It means something that the public would accept and embrace and can be used commercially. What does that mean? It means something that sounds good, feels good, reads good, catchy, easy, passes all the tests and may have multiple functions. A generic, generic. Not a category domain.

All I can say and have been saying is there is a multitude of opportunity in domains. But 90% of that starts with current or future type in traffic. Yes a domain that gets zero today can get 100/day next year. That's called chasing the future and getting there before anyone else. But validation does not occur until they type it in. The domain is not 'Ripe' until there are type ins. So those that flip and have the time to watch some ripen will find great rewards with less work while building a stronger and stronger foundation.

Domaining is all about type in traffic. PERIOD! 90% of the game. Sure there are always exceptions. NNN have value, LLL may have value. But don't confuse that with domains with meaning. Domains that have a multitude of advantages. It's about guessing what others might think. The reason so few talk about type ins is because so many would go broke. PPC companies exist because of type ins. That's the model. Those are the domains that have value. Guaranteed value. Value that can be demonstrated. Then it is just a debate about the degree.

When I started 99% of the industries traffic had no value. There was no way to convert people looking for things to companies that could provide the good or service they were looking for and get paid. Except for adult that is. They KNEW what to do with the traffic. They knew how to convert into sales. To upsell. To trade traffic with their own competitors for their mutual benefits.

The problem with discussing an issue like this is one thing leads to another. When you come in at the beginning of a movie you might look differently on it as opposed to coming in during the intermission. The view is different. That is why history is so important so you can follow the bouncing ball and why it is bouncing and why it is bouncing a certain way and in a certain direction. It is why I try to give you a feel for things. No Google. No PPC. No aftermarket. 5% of the people online in the US and virtually none in so many other places. A mainstream doing everything it could to discredit doing anything online. Especially business. It was their greatest threat. So the movie is different when you see the entire show.

So even if you flip for a living you should have at least 1 out of 10 that are keepers. That are investments. That will eventually transform you from a flipper of domains to an investor in profit whether domains or any other opportunity. You can be flipping burgers or the restaurant owner with a chain of stores and all you have to do is THINK about it and what this all means to you.

Have a GREAT Day!

Phones on Fire. Phone Bidding HOT! Ricks Personal Picks for the Auction.

Morning Folks!!

Now that folks see that nearly 60% of every domain at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. is NO RESERVE and there are some DEALS to be had, our phone registration page is now the busiest page on our website!

We can handle up to 10 phone bidders on any single lot. Thse bidders must be registered by next Friday October 5th to be included. Once we have 10 phone bidders on any particular domain, we will cut off the signups. So if you are really serious about getting a bargain, there should be a sense of urgency in your actions. You can't wait until the last minute and be included. Sorry.

Tuesday we closed auction submissions early as we had more contracts out than slots we really wanted to fill. So I can post the final list this Friday instead of just closing submissions. That gives you more time to research the domains and I can tell you there is gold in them thar hills. Domains that meet my threshold of a 10x-100x upside when you look at it thru my eyes and how I look at domains. 6 figure domains that can be bought for a few grand. Domains that Fortune 500 companies can use in an advertising campaign.

Now that the contracts are signed and I can sit back and look at what I have put together. Check out lot #140 with no reserve. Some I don't like. But there are some there I really like and I think others may just see a few names that have value.

Tumors.com and Fibre.com. DUH! No Reserve. $1 takes them. Maybe. Doubful. No way. CONTEST!

Lot #104 DesPlaines.com a city name for $1000 reserve. Are you kidding? BARGAIN! Somebody could flip for $10k or hold out for more.

Lot #105 AmusementPark.com. It's not $1MM. It's not even $500k. It's not $250k. It's not even half that as a reserve. It's a great domain. Will a domainer buy it? Long shot. But an end user could gobble it up if we get the word out.

Lot#106 gtldforum.com (No Reserve) Somebody is going to be the tool shed for that market. The next Adam Dicker. Then again Maybe Adam Dicker will not allow that. Who knows?

Lot#111 AnsweringMachines.com (No Reserve) It's a business. It may be passe for some, but it is still a viable business and this proves it:

http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=answering+machines&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Lot#112 CheapLaptops.com (Aggressively Priced) and mean aggresively if you want to make a dent in a market. It's another business in a domain name.

Lot#114 NavigationGlasses.com (Low Reserve) You don't buy yesterday you go for tomorrow. With self driving Google cars release this week, smart glasses on the horizon. It's called investing for a reason. You bet on a hunch.

Lot#119 FanClub.com (Opportunity knocking) Another domain that can change your destiny.

Lot#120 Saws.com and MiterSaws.com 7400 August type ins (Greatly Reduced) This domain is about 50% off what it has been listed for in the past. Another business in a domain. Another category you can own.

Lot#141 VisitBogota.co (No Reserve) Imagine ME picking a .CO!! But this one has meaning and is a good use of .CO. A natural use.

I may do this again. I just picked a handful. But I saw something in every domain I picked. I don't use Estibot, I use my gut. But somebody plugged my list into Estibot yesterday and the resuts suprised me on both ends of the spectrum. It has helpful info but nothing can substitute for the gut and knowing what has value and what does not. But there are sleepers on this list that can be huge.

Like always all the mouths will come out and say how shitty this is or that is but not one of them will be among the 350 core domainers because they look at things differently. Some see opoortunity and some see nothing. I can only pick from the pool of domains out there and are submitted.

I have never 'Handicapped' domains before. But I wanted to give you a little window into my picking process. How I think and what I do to pick domains. Why? Because so many of the domains that I see out there are pigeon shit. PURE pigeon shit. Those folks will probably curse me out and tell me what a crappy list.

Folks are always complaining that I don't give examples of what I consider domains of value. So here is a list. Not all have value to ME. But I have to look at things through many sets of eyes. John Jones for example.

I have been as transparent as possible. I listed each and every domain as they were selected and the contracts came in. I did no favors. I just tried to make this puppy work and on October 8th I/WE get the report card.

This is the SEMI-FINAL list. Results and everything else and I PROMISE a RESULT or it is ALL on me! I will take 100% responsibility for any failure. But I have a 3 year and a 3 phase program and I intend to have a success with your help!

I might write about what I see in some of the other lots as time goes on. Just to illustrate what I see and why I see it.

If you only effort is to try and rip apart what we are doing, you only hurt yourself. So have at it.

Here is a List WORSE Than Pigeon Sh*t. Domain Infringer Expose′! First Time EVER!

Evening folks!!

I have gone through many domain names and domainers have been very nice to me even when I did not select their domains. That was until tonight when a true blooded MORON emailed me.

I took the TIME to look over his domains and even explained why I could not take them. He decided he wanted to fight. So a fight he gets.

Maybe others will have a better chance of reaching this KNOW-NOTHING because he loves to accuse me of not being fair and catering to a select group of individuals when selecting domain names for the auction because I did not choose his pigeon shit.

He even used another domainers name as a reference and then crapped all over her as well. He doesn't seem to care at all. That's what makes him a moron. But then he is really worse than a moron as you will see.

The so-called 'Domainer' is a Trademark infringer with an attitude from the looks of it and as far as I can see. What do you see? I have his expressed permission to post his emails and in time that will happen. But since this is my rodeo, we'll do it the way I want and a time of my choosing.

Some feedback might be helpful for this guy who thinks he can get away with infringing on the marks below.

Here are some of his accusations and why I am even writing this. As you all know I have been about as transparent about my involvement picking each and every domain based on only a couple things. Like does the domain have value and will domainers buy them because they see an upside? But when I simply answered his email with 'Sorry, I have to be very selective at this point' I got this barrage in return:

'Yup I’m always looking for a fight…. But I can’t believe that none of these domains are of interest. I viewed many of the domains on your site and many of the ones in this list are ten times better. This is a slanted game.'

'All the domainers that made the list are in your group. This isn’t open to the public so why advertise it as such? Do you have a list of the domainers that submitted. Is it open to review by the public. I bet not.'

'I know your response before you said it. You didn’t even look at the list.'

So I asked him 'Tell me how I picked out your TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENTS if I did not go through the list?' Which completely debunked his accusations as I listed the list below beforehand.

Why answer this? Because I don't take well to accusations in private that I also know will be public without responding FIRMLY! I don't know most of the people that sent me domains because all I look at is the domain and the price and whether there is an upside for a domainer. Pretty simple standard. You try and show and teach a guy he is on the wrong path and you get this instead of a thank you. Pretty sad.

And the ONLY reason I did not publish his entire portfolio of pure pigeon shit was not to advertise them for him. The ones below I know for a fact that no professional domainer would touch with a 10ft pole and are worthless besides that. You are looking at a bottom fisher in all his glory. Want to buy some perishable 2008 domains? He has some to sell ya!

I am sure there are a lot of these guys out there and when we turn our heads the other way, we too are guilty! We are NOT CYBERSQUATTERS and we have a DUTY to speak out to that loudly and firmly so there is no mistake about it. Folks that engage in this practice are NOT in the domain industry. It's like a bank robber believing he is in the banking industry. The bankers need to draw the line and close the door as well as the law. Just like we do! ALL should speak out to THIS subject! Not just me! This hurts us all. Costs us all. Long term damage from quick buck artists that have no sense from right and wrong.

The Future in Domaining May be About Joint Ventures

Morning Folks!!

Since 1996 I have thought that when you have a great domain you can attract folks to work with you and create 'Joint Ventures'.

I even tried to do this with Porno.com in 1997. I was laughed at by each person I would discuss it with. What they did not know (and thank goodness) had they said 'Yes', that would have been worth in excess of $500k to them annually. Boy was I DUMB and thankfully so were they!

But I never let go of that vision. I just had to be patient enough for others to see and understand what I see and understand.

When PPC began to drop in 2007, I started changing how I do business. I now make only a fraction of my income from parking. The majority now comes from my joint ventures.

I opened up a few sites like worksmarter.com and domaindevelopers.com to explain what I was looking for along with a message on each parked page looking for joint venture partners. In 1997 it was domainseller.com. In 1999 until now has been erealestate.com. Always trying to educate the end user or the person out there with a big dream. If you advertise for elephants, you can get elephants!

I now have about 12-15 sites with my domains that others are trying to make a go of. Just yesterday, topsecret.com went online with a guy that emailed me earlier this week. Each day he will add more value and content. Will it work? We'll see. TopSecret.com was making me about $25/month on PPC. So in 30 days I will evaulate what he has done and hopefully there will be something that attracts eyeballs.

I experiment and look for a spark. Most will fail. That is okay. Each failure is one step closer to a success. You never know where or in what form that success will come in. But you must keep pitching that ball if you want to have a chance. And when you own a great domain name, you have the luxury of time to try this and that and this again.

Over the summer I have been working with somebody to try and change the dynamics on about 6 other domain names. I have active conversations going with others. What was laughable in 1997 is MY reality today.

This week alone I had at least 5 folks willing to lease some domains. Until the last year or two when I would mention the word 'Lease' they would laugh. Now tey are making offers. That's a major shift.

But you can't do it with worthless domains. Like yesterday I got spammed with a domain name. I own dishwashing.com. I get a spam for washingdish.com which means nothing. Not that dishwashing.com is the greatest domain name. But the other is PURE pigeon shit. Or when there is a 'S' in the wrong place making like a double plural.

A domain has to be meaningful to be leased. Yesterday somebody offered me $50/month for a domain I was asking $1500/month for. I told him right out, if your business is only capable of those low numbers on a 'Diamond' domain, I have no interest. I just look at it thru a different set of eyes. If I open a store on Main Street how much will it cost? To service a smaller area. That is my basis since 1996 and it ain't going to change. I have just been patient enough for LIFE and REALITY to catch up to my vision. And around the turn they come!!!

Lastly, when I lease I usually have language weaved in which outlines what will happen in the event of a great success. That way everyone is more comfortable and all hoping for that great success.

Have a GREAT Day!

My TOTAL Domain Name Sales for 2012

Morning Folks!!

Each week I see all types of companies announcing their domain sales for the week. It's the new big thing. So I wanted to get on the bandwagon. I was going to announce it each week as well but decided not to.

So the following is my total sales for 2012 through August 31, 2012.

ZERO!!

I don't sell my domains. I lease them, do joint ventures, experiment and so on. The only way I sell a domain is when the offer is greater than my best idea. Where the number is higher than I can achieve myself in time. Or I just let the domains drop because it does not make my portfolio stronger and I don't have the time or desire to try and sell domains I perceive of having no real value. I don't sell Pigeon Shit to others. Once I label it as pigeon shit, in the garbage it goes. If somebody wants to eat my pigeon shit......that's why they have pigeons. I just don't make a living feeding those pigeons. ;-)

I like to sell ONE domain per year. ONE! That is my goal each year. ONE! One 6 figure or more domain sale.

Have a GREAT Day!

Are You Kidding Me?? Just 2.5 CENTS a DAY!?

Morning Folks!!

It drives me crazy when folks talk about earning enough to cover registration fees. Talk about setting the bar low. All a domain has to do is earn 2.5 CENTS A DAY to be profitable. 2.5 CENTS! 2.5 Sense! Are you kidding me?? Come on, if that is how you look at domains and are still losing, then something is very wrong!

I don't talk about 'Pigeon Shit' domains without a reason. The 'Pigeon Shit' is out of control. What are you folks thinking? There are thousands of you playing a fools game and while many are waking up because they are broke, still others are still buying the POOP!

There is so much PS out there that decent names seem impossible to recognize when you are pissing away dollars and can't even make PENNIES! Stop buying domains that don't mean anything! Lord! gdfkyt.com means NOTHING. Has NO VALUE. Oh yes, only for the next 3 groups coming. The ones focusing on LLLLLLLLLL.com. Folks, they are called WORDS for a reason.

So once you toss out your pigeon shit it allows you to have the dollars for meaningful domains that are BORN every single day of the week. BORN! But when you chase yesterday you can't see that part of the equation.

Opportunity comes and opportunity is born when you are aware and pay attention. It amazes me that EVERY old timer still hand registers domains and the guys with less success always LAUGH at this. Are you kidding me??

If your bills exceed your income it is not the fault of domains! It is the fault of not seeing, understanding and adjusting.

I know it comes over as if I am scolding. But if you are losing money and your family depends on you, maybe it is time to take inventory. Look, I don't go around listing worthless domains. So let me give you some rules like the LLLLLLLLLL.com above.

When I hear this is an 'SEO Friendly' or 'Keyword Rich' or any of that other BOGUS terms to describe a domain name, let me give you the translation. WORTHLESS!

I-have-a-great-domain-name.com is WORTHLESS!
3tg65y3.com is WORTHLESS!
LLLLLLLLLL.com is WORTHLESS!
Domains that confuse o and 0 are WORTHLESS!

One guy sent me a list of 4000 domain names. Every single one was WORTHLESS! But he is pissing away $35,000/year on pure pigeon shit. All he has to do is stop renewing the shit and start over with $35,000 in his pocket. Go buy a REAL set of domain names. Finance a $100k domain for 3 years. He has the POWER and the MONEY to change his destiny. But first I have to change his mind. I am sure he worked hard to put that together. Many hours. Wasted hours and wasted money. He is probably cursing the hell out of me right now. But his life and family are worth more than his pride. That's part of business.

Domains are either an asset or a liability. The difference is 2.5 CENTS a day! It's never too late to start over. If you are running a negative cash flow, the least you should do is begin the process of re-evaluating what you have. Nothing I don't do on a daily basis. I have let over 4000 names drop this year. I don't sell them. They were worthless and my job is not to look for somebody less knowledgeable so I can dump them on. I just let them drop. The only one I sold was Flowers.mobi at a substantial loss and swallowed my pride to unlock those dollars to become more productive.

I know there is real pain out there. I can see the desperation. The worry. The things and emotions we go thru when we know we are not heading in the right direction. But we feel that way when we are not in control. So to fix that....TAKE CONTROL!! Change your direction. Upgrade your portfolio while cleaning out those pigeon droppings.

I started talking about 'Pigeon Shit' for a reason back in 2010. Some thought it was cute. Some thought it was crude. I knew just how serious a problem it really was and how widespread that problem is. It was just the cold hard truth to me and when I see a 'Truth', I never back down from it.

So how do you REALLY know if you own 'Pigeon Shit'? Whether your entire portfolio is suspect? Put it to this test. What percentage of your portfolio meets my test?

Have a GREAT Day!

Mission Accomplished! My Last Regular”Daily” Blog Post.

Morning Folks!!

It's December 1, 2011. I started writing this post weeks ago and waiting for just the right moment to publish. Over the last weeks I have posted a strong summary of the events and the vision I have now and the one back in 1996. I admit it is boring. Virtually nothing has changed in that period of time other than the world moved in the direction I bet the farm on. My words are the same in 2011 as they were in 1996. The only difference is they are now backed up with history and facts and oh so much more.

So I woke up one morning and realized that my job has been accomplished. No longer are we in an environment where domain names are the greatest secret in the world. No longer did I have to explain what a domain name was or why it was so important.

For over a decade I have devoted my time to the “Industry of Domains”. While that won’t change, I will now adjust my focus and time from domainers to new avenues in a maturing universe that is presenting some huge opportunities. I feel in the last days I have said all I can possibly say.

I am not closing this blog. I will still post from time to time. But as a daily exercise, I think the blog has run its' course. It will stay here forever. The words will stand and the vision will again be proven. But my time can be better used and that is what I am going to do.

Domaining is like a beautiful Pond. But now it is time to jump into Rivers and Oceans. I will still be visible. I will still contribute where and when I can. I will still announce the deals I do. Wherever I go, I will leave a trail right here. Just time to blaze some new paths in some new areas and arenas and do what I have done all of my life. Just graduating to another phase, another level another orbit.

I have long said we will all go into different orbits in time and the time is here. This is not the first time. In 1999-2000 I left the confines of the adult industry to establish the first Domain Chat Board in the world. Most of the folks on that board are still in this business and most of them have done well.

But this time I am going back to the future. I am going back to 1996 because while my vision has not changed, those I tried to share it with back then have. And while they rejected that vision out of hand then, they now have the tools to grasp, understand and embrace things. I have had the time to prove the future and gain the credibility that goes with it. Now it is time to parlay that credibility. All in the timing.

I’ll always have lines to the adult industry. I’ll always have lines to the domain industry. But now it is time to construct those lines to ALL industries. Ventures in ALL directions. A more diverse playing field. A new group spread throughout the world.

For those that really want to know and understand domains and their power and everything that goes with it should take the time to read over 500 posts here. You will be fluent in domaining if you invest your time in these posts. You will understand the domain eco system and all that goes with it. You will have direction,. You will know who to do business with and who to avoid. You will know facts before they became facts and the timelines will prove it. On your first day you will know more than folks doing it for years.

Journey’s end with a mistake but the mistake NEVER occurs at the end. Mistakes ALWAYS happen before you even set sail. So don’t be directionless and fail. Take the TIME to read what I have written and you will make a fortune by not pissing away money on worthless domain names.

I have signed on to TRAFFIC through 2013. I don't know if I will be involved beyond that unless I can manage to turn it into something very grand. It will be 10 years at that point and I think it will depend on events on the ground. I think that after this October I will have filled the obligation I had for myself when Howard and I started out on this journey. I feel satisfied with what we have accomplished and how far we have all come. The next couple years will give a clear vision of the next 10.

So I can’t say all that I need or want to say but time and place dictates where and what to do next. I will still focus on domains but my energy will be alliances far outside the Industry of Domaining only to return each Fall. Some of the time devoted to entities I have an interest in. Besides selling domains I have a vested interest and a piece of the action in several of them including Candy.com, Property.com and Punchbowl.com.

100,000 call themselves “Domainers”. The definition is a loose one. Like “Webmaster”. Everyone is one. But few are masters of the web. Few are Masters of Domaining and few will join the club. Reading every post in this blog will be the single best investment of your time….EVER…….AND again, you won’t waste your money on worthless domains.

10 GREAT domains make you a domainer. 100,000 worthless domains makes you a pigeon shit farmer at best and a fool at worst. The quantity game has collapsed. Quality is and always has been the real game.

The way to make your fortune is to have the vision to see what will unfold before others see it and then ACT on it. Don’t just TALK about it. DO IT! Most folks waste 10x more energy talking about something than actually doing it. We all know the types.

Just time to trail blaze in some new areas and arenas and do what I have done all of my life. I am not looking to own 100% of everything. Looking to own 5% of multiple somethings.

I watched the entire future unfold with .everything going viral overnight. But .everything just made .something (dot com) much more valuable and famous. The new game is expensive, but the game is trying to duplicate something you can’t duplicate. Every .everything will want, need and HAVE TO HAVE the dotcom counterpart. That counterpart is worth a king’s ransom!

In case folks forgot, THIS is what Mr. Johnson said in the adage article

'Mr. Johnson said customers responded well to the O.co advertising, but after watching the spots, 'a good portion' of those who sought out the website went to O.com, instead of O.co.'

Ignore what he said and you are GUARANTEED to lose. The bigger the business, the bigger the loss.

I will use this blog for future T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Announcements. It is still my 'SoapBox.' If I see another 'Mr. Johnson' statement, I will be all over it. The building is never over but the foundation is strong and can only get stronger.

Exciting times. Lots of new ways to make new money as I watch the masses…..GET IT WRONG once again. But wrong does not mean unprofitable. Right does not mean you will get rich. Confused? Start reading this blog and you will get a lesson in life as a dividend of learning and understanding domain names and what they have to do with Human Nature. Seasoned domainers, pay particular attention to the May and June posts. It only proves what I have said for a very long time. Some folks deal with the truth and some folks so what they do when confronted with it.

In 2012 I want to explore what the outside world looks like just months before my 20 year plan fully matures. I think 'Explore' is the keyword. I feel as I go into year number 17 that I have built a foundation of accomplishment. A foundation of many foundations that allows me to arm myself for the path ahead with much less headwinds then years gone by. IDEAS are a very powerful weapon and when armed with credibility, has no limit. My motto might be......'Who can I make contact with today?'

See with my new found time I have decided to use the time I use to blog for contacting new folks and planting new seeds in a different direction. To make TRAFFIC 2012 and TRAFFIC 2013 events that will be talked about for a lifetime. To do things that can only be done after being battle tested. I no longer need props like 'Sampson' and 'Ribeye' because the beauty of the Internet is it is all on record.

I have a vision and it was never the TIME to truly employ that vision until now. The 20 year plan enters the final stage. Not the ending stage, just the final stage of a booster rocket. But it is NOW that the orbit begins. The difference between 'Spring Training' and the 'Regular Season.' That is about how I see it. So while others are gettimg 'Battle Fatigue' I am getting 'Battle Ready.'

I am Rick Schwartz from Property.com. I am Rick Schwartz from Candy.com. I am Rick Schwartz from Widgets.com. I am Rick Schwartz from DailySpecials.com. I am Rick Schwartz from TopSecret.com. I am Rick Schwartz from JointVentures.com. I am Rick Schwartz from Middleman.com. Who do I want to be TODAY?

To my faithful readers and friends....Have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Years and good health to you and those that are close. There are no outside forces that can limit you or barriers to stop you. The single biggest and virtually our only enemy is the mass between our ears. I wish you only the best.

Have a GREAT Day!

You are”Entitled” to Nothing! Your Attitude is your Passport!

Morning Folks!!

I think most of history was based on limitations. What you could not do. What you were not allowed to do, dream or think. That changed over time for some when many questioned the limits and decided to define new limits or break the limits completely. That is called the freedom of “Positive thinking”.

That thinking process allows you to visualize and taste success or anything for that matter without actually doing it yet. . Rely on yourself for that success. Based on whether you had the true fire in the belly for that success. That seems to have given way to an entirely different type of thinking. The “Entitlement think”.

Entitlement think is very dangerous and then of course you become dependent on others to take care of you where you are lacking. Everyone pays the price for that.

Forget about it in the political sense of entitlement. I see it right here in the domain industry. 500 real domainers and thousand and thousands that think they are entitled to the success those 500 enjoy but that they never even worked for. Never struggled to get. Never took the risk. Never had the faith. Never did what is needed to join the 500 who would happily welcome them to the group and even write a blog post to lend a helping hand.

Problem is those that I am talking to are shaking their head while the 500 that get it are nodding their heads. The 2 groups look at the world from an opposite viewpoint. The thousands have to explain and excuse and are so busy doing those antics that they refuse to take the time to listen to the 500 and how they see it.

Those 500 see things that the naked eye can’t. Like opportunity or just reading between the lines without distorting the message to fit their own agenda.

Timing is everything but you can come into THIS industry at ANY time and make your fortune IF you start to think and see things like the 500 do. The 500 are not some super geniuses. They just have a vision and follow thru each and EVERY time.

No other business on this planet has more opportunity than what we are doing. If success is eluding you, then it is obvious that you are doing something wrong. I have spent over a decade trying to explain what constitutes a good domain. A domain with value. It has less NOW to do with the extension and more to do with what the domain means. Meaningless domains are worthless until you find somebody that is more clueless.

My only goal is to expand the 500 into 5000. Your success won’t change my success. Is not a threat to any of the 500. We for the most part, don’t look at life that way. We give back. We want to guide and help. Plenty of room for everyone.

Mike Berkens discusses what CRAP “Domainers” bought during the opening of .CO when they could have had anything. Because they don’t understand what makes a domain have value, they pick Pigeon Shit when there is a FEAST of Great domains available. They are stuck . That is why 10 great domains make you a domainer and 1000 domains that mean nothing and nobody wants makes you a pigeon shit farmer.

So once again I am taking my time to point out how to change that dynamic. Most of you folks are much smarter than me. Have a better education than me. Are younger and more energetic than me. Have longer to look into the future than me. But until you understand noun’s, verbs and adjectives and how those elements are the FOUNDATION of domaining, and then match it with the size of the audience and the buying power that audience has, you will be without a compass, direction or a destination. You will wallow in frustration and anger and fear. That's called a 'Bad Attitude'. Most grow out of it. Some are stuck for their entire lifetimes. EVERYONE has the choice. EVERYONE!

You my friends are entitled to NOTHING! But you have the POWER to do, to be, to achieve, anything you want. If things are failing, just STOP. Stop and regroup and look at it differently. Lashing out frustration NOW, proves you don’t have the power to change even when you really do.

So hate me for telling you the hard truth. Hate me for being right. Hate me for 100 reasons. But don’t anyone hate me for THEIR own shortcomings, failures and other obvious thoughts of entitlement. This is business and nobody gives a rat’s ass.

Success in domaining has little to do with domaining and everything to do with the thinking process and understanding how different groups think. It has more to do with attitude and direction. Domains are the vehicle. Shoes are the vehicle. Any commodity service or idea is the vehicle. It should take you only a few days to learn about the vehicle. A few MONTHS at most.

But it takes a lifetime to learn that you ain’t entitled to anything but air. The rest is solely up to each and every individual. Some never learn that. Maybe they just don’t know because they just can’t see it. Education is WORTHLESS without that element. Without a positive attitude all the knowledge in the world won't overcome some of the simplest obstacles in life.

So they live life on false hope with no foundation of success. Walking EAST to find the SUNSET!! Ain’t EVER gonna happen my friend. But a SIMPLE adjustment changes the dynamics of everything in life. But until they STOP and take the time to turnaround, their destiny is decided and that single element controls them forever. Not me, not you, not Santa Claus.

I bet I have written similar posts to this 10-15 times over the years. The ones that can benefit the most, are the ones that get those with a bad attitude angered the most. Go figure. In my pea brain I figure if I reach one mind, it was worth my time. If not, it just reinforces what I already know and what the 500 already know.

This is not unique to domaining. In every single sector you will find those 500 and you will find those that have not made it. But in EVERY case, in every industry, in every sector, the mindset is what determines success. The 500 would likely find success with many vehicles. That is why a successful CEO in one business can go into any other business and can have a very good chance of repeating that success. He may know nothing about the product. He can learn about the product. But you can’t learn a good attitude. If you stuck yourself with a bad attitude you wlll carry that undeveloped mindset for a lifetime like it was your best friend even tho the 500 can clearly see it is your worst enemy. Attitude is everything. Sooner we learn that, the better life we have.

Some take things personally when I talk in generalities. I mention no names. Just a way of thinking and that sets off the folks that can benefit the most. The 500 are never threatened by debate. They learn from it. The others, they just do what they do and repeat hardship and failure for them and their families and blame me or whoever is convenient at the time but NEVER look at themselves. How sad in this day and age where in a recession we still have more opportunity than ANY POINT in history!

Have a GREAT Day!
