Domainers Will FAIL Trying to Copy My Success! Different Time, Different Recipe. Different Demand.

Morning Folks!!

The single biggest mistake domainers seem to make is over estimating the size of a market and the percentage of that market they can attract. Case in point in just a moment.

What REALLLLLY blows me away and also bothers me personally is so many are trying to copy what I did and my success. And as the one they are trying to copy, I am waving my hands, jumping up and down for YEARS and all I am saying is FELLAS, this is the wrong way to copy my success. GTLD's have NOTHING in common with what I did 23 YEARS ago. NOT EVEN CLOSE! So please give it up! I don't want to be connected in any way, shape or form.

There is nothing similar. This is so much different. There is virtually nothing the same. There is nothing to copy. It's a different game, at a different time with different everything. There is a path to domaining success and NOTHING could be farther from it than GTLD's! PERIOD!! How CLEAR can I be!? How clear can 6 YEARS of evidence be? The registries made money. SOME. Domainers LOST MONEY. ALL!

Yes, a stopped clock is right twice a day everyday for eternity. That does not mean it works. That does not mean it has value. Broken clocks don't have high demand. If you don't understand the example about the clock, STOP until you do.

The guy that has .Kiwi is a very nice guy. But he got it wrong. At TRAFFIC he presented on stage and estimated 7 million registrations. I knew that was fantasy. I said so at the time and have said that many times since. There would simply be no demand. And guess what? There is NO DEMAND!

Below you will see the domainer genius that took a week of his life and registered 200,000 .Kiwi domains back in September 2016 and 2 years later dropped nearly every one of them. Probably the rest will be dropping this year. What a colossal waste of time, money and effort! The definition of a failure on every front. This is just an easy illustration. It was repeated hundreds of times with different extensions and different domainers. WAKE UP!!

.

15,000 left in the zone file. Of those 12,000 are parked. You are looking at a dead extension walking. That's with 15,000, 400 gtld's have LESS with 300 of those with under 10,000. These are not viable extensions and when we talk INVESTING......are you kidding??

Let me repeat! What REALLLLLY blows me away and also bothers me personally is so many are trying to copy what I did and my success. And as the one they are trying to copy, I am waving my hands, jumping up and down for YEARS and all I am saying is FELLAS, this is the wrong way to copy my success.

My success starts and ends with .COM! And one day domainers will wake up and realize that their success starts and ends with .com too!

Is there really a dot kiwi. Heck I don’t even know there is a .kiwi. What were they thinking with their hard earned money. The evidence is all there. .net, .org, .mobi, .info, .biz none work. What else convince them?

    Correct but only partially.
I totally agree with you that .com has the most, and will continue to have the most success.

That said there are world wide successes in the ccTLD market that in rare cases rival the .com market. Now understand I said rare and high end sales in ccTLD’s are a relatively rare occurrence yet they do happen.

If I were to give advice to any domainer starting out I would say do it on a smaller scale and buy one word ccTLD’s from your home market.

I don’t make Rick Schwartz money but I make enough to make quite a comfortable living at it.

So doing what Rick said…. you cannot repeat his success (in most cases) but there is room to get some sizeable table scraps if you move from gTLD’s to ccTLD’s.

Purely my opinion but it works for me.

Hey it’s MapleDots.ca guy. Check out the ccTLD angle covered in Saturday’s thread here (first thread before this):

      www . ricksblog . com/2019/01/my-first-ever-review-of-all-top-10-new-gtlds-plus-the-list-of-350-new-gtld-extensions-that-will-go-bye-bye-the-birdie-in-the-mine-is-dead/#comment-83526

Registries and registrars may be making money from the new shiny objects, but Rick couldn’t be more right about domain investors. A definite path to rapid bankruptcy. I even like a few no less, but the small number I have are as a user, not an “investor.” If any sale ever occurs that’s merely a bonus, and if the unprotected and unregulated renewal fee ever becomes more disagreeable I will certainly drop them at will.

ccTLD’s and gTLD’s are different my friend.
Nobody can deny that ccTLD’s have value and if you follow Rick closely you will probably read where he says a ccTLD is the best viable option when the .com is gone and you are doing business in one country.

Mind you, if you are doing business on the global stage the ccTLD becomes meaningless unless you own one for every country and that usually only happens if you have a world trademark or deep pockets.

Trust me ccTLD’s have value, not necessarily at .com levels but undeniable value. There is only one supported by each country and when the .com is gone the next one to be snapped up is the ccTLD and the bidding can go quite high on them.

“ccTLD’s and gTLD’s are different my friend.”

I actually had a hunch I might regret replying to you, so what part of “Check out the ccTLD angle covered in Saturday’s thread here” do you not understand? I think most people would probably be insulted. Yes I’ve been one of the biggest commenters in the blogs for years but I didn’t know the difference between ccTLD and gTLD till your comment here now. Thanks for the tip.

“Mind you, if you are doing business on the global stage the ccTLD becomes meaningless unless you own one for every country”

But since you added that, I guess you also didn’t even read where I wrote “and I have the international traffic to prove that while the American public practically doesn’t even know it exists (with some exceptions of course), the rest of the world certainly does know.” So looks like I’ll be the one correcting you today.

No hard feelings and I accept your apology in advance. ;)

Agreed. The bulk of my portfolio is .COM then ultra premium one word .TV because tv stands for something and is great for video. I receive thousands of direct type ins a week because People are searching for them. If I owned shit GTLD’s I would have ZERO visits period. The Domain Kings blueprint only works with.COM

When they come out with .cheater I will register just one… my X girlfriends name + that ext. & a nice photo of her on the homepage. Having said that, .net and .org work well for SEO purposes.

Who dares to copy what you do during all these years, will be a waste of time.

As a sales strategy, economy, logistics, advertising before knowing what the internet would be, I was especially a true professional, having my goals in life and in the future, when the Internet opened a new local market, country, countries, continent, and worldwide.

Leave everything to do before the research with my project of artificial intelligence and virtual reality that no one has managed to do what I achieve and patent a small part of it that is the basis of knowledge of the project in 2002 in all these years try to copy once and get with my Lawyer Patents and Trademarks, and with the participation of the Rector University of Technology and Researchers, that the bad copy person will sign a Contract and Certificate of Confidentiality for the rest of his life.

Iese Business School of Barcelona year 2003 (I have obtained the postgraduate of Strategy and Advertising in a Summer and Autumn course in this Business School year 1982) I could present Business Plan of ecommerce, as an alumnus and graduate degree for my very important to know Different people like me think “Reality was different”.

199 Business Plan, all of them of Master of Business Administration or MBA, and I Business Plan postgraduate degree Strategy and Advertising. Only 20 move to the semi final and after another analysis and 10 finalists were the ones that should be presented to more than 50 companies, Venture Capital, Financial, with only 10 minutes of time your business plan.

I think between me if I have to comment in 10 minutes everything will not understand me.

Well Friday and Saturday Analysts of Iese Business School of Barcelona, to find the 20 Business plan for the final of 10 finalists, summarize on Monday they call me by telephone that my business plan to have been of the 20 semifinalists of the position 14 and give me the news of whether to be the next day to go to the final of only 10, I was convinced that there would be 10 MBA and so were the finalists.

When I went to find my business plan a professor and analyst Mr. Segurado to answer me is an ecommerce project very advanced to the year 2003 and has a very good future, continue with this, your other business and online projects.

Rick, I can only tell you one thing, you’re like a writer who published a book ahead of time, and like those that I read and buy second hand at 16 to 18 years of age were from Science and this one had other than I discovered books written in English in the late 40’s, all 50,60,70 … after reading the latest Virtual Reality Technology in 2000 I have not needed more to learn from all the books of futuristic and imaginary great writers of your US country and that I read with passion and write down what my prediction of science believe important in tomorrow or in the future, all these books were my best teachers, just as you with your post and market knowledge domain that describes us every day.
Never copy from anyone, not even from you I just write down phrases and words from their contents in my paper agenda (I’m from the old school yet), that I have never before seen written in the contents of other domainer’s blog in the that I am subscribed, like yours.

    Happy Day. Jose.

That individual would have been smarter if he invested the same amount of money that he spent on 200,000 .kiwi domain names on just one high quality .com domain name. For starters, he wouldn’t have needed to spend millions on renewals every year for just one .com domain name. This is a great example of how quality is better than quantity in this case.
