.Sucks, Suck!

Morning Folks!!

.Sucks is not good for anyone. I think it exemplifies ICANN out of control.

So it broke yesterday by thedomains.com (my personal research department) that one registry bidding will try to extort as much as $25,000 a pop from companies to get their .sucks domain. This sucks! The other 2 bidders are also quite well-known.

I believe this will spin out of control. ICANN has to be THE most >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sorry, can't even print it for adults to read. This has opened a can of worms and the anger is growing by the hour.  This is what happens when there is no guide lines and a money grab.

This is also the type thing that FORCES the U.S. Government to get involved. Congress will act once a few of their names are out there.

“Trademark Priority”

“Trademark Holders can reserve now and secure a price of $2,500 to avoid announced Sunrise pricing of $25,000.” “Trademark Priority registrations will take place BEFORE sunrise”

The Vox Populi Registry Inc. owned by Momentous Corporation, which is the only shareholder listed as owning at least 15% of the registry is opened to business. Momentous Corporation also owns Pool.com

The other two applicants for .Sucks are domain veteran Jay Westerdal’s company Top Level Spectrum, Inc. and Donuts."

So once I read that I registered a few sucks domains of my own:

MomentousSucks.com,  VoxPopuliSucks.com and RobHallSucks.com (Nothing personal Rob)

$25,000 each boys. (or highest bidder over $25,000)

It's one thing to get .sucks which we can debate. But when I hear Mike Berkens raise the level from "Extortion" to "Rape", then I would pay attention.

Seems there is still some time to leave ICANN some comments. So if you are a little hot under the collar, join in.

Go check out the comments over there and pitch in. This is serious, damaging and I think the voice of the industry should be raised. If not, we all live with the consequences and they are already going to be bad enough as it is.

Money grab?? New gTLDS?? Sorry, I think you ALL pay the price for this incredible act.

It's Horse.Shit of the worst magnitude and YOU ALL OWN IT! That's what I mean about a TRAIN WRECK! You are witnessing one! Just one. One of dozens and probably hundreds. Sorry, you rise as one and you can fall as one. That is possible because of how this has been handled.

And let's NEVER forget whose dream baby this all is. Who devised this entire system when at ICANN.

Whatever registry wins .sucks should be shunned and boycotted if they pull this .CRAP!

Just how is ‘sucks’ business enhancing? What does it add to society?

The gTLD cannot in the vast majority be used for a bona fide offering off goods and services and thus must be used for personal use…. so why would trademark holders then want or need these domains or pay a large amount for them… unless there was an extortion type orientation?

To be honest, I hope the US government gives ICANN a good kicking because they certainly aren’t following the spirit of their mission statement and the provision of societally enhancing services.

Perhaps ICANN should read their own UDRP rules and see how registries are falling foul by asking rights holders for more than out of pocket expenses to protect their own property. The gTLD is in my opinion a BAD FAITH gTLD!!!!

Surprised at TheDomains and others involved with new gTLDs condemning .sucks, Momentous are only using the process ICANN and friends created.

If it wasn’t for sensible voices like George Kirikos and others trying to mitigate the behaviour of those looking to benefit from new gtTLDs, the money making schemes ICANN is permitting would have been even easier!

The Red Flags just get more pronounced on this coming Registrar Ad Company inspired Bubble. Consumers are reading about (Target Phisching) using Targets Brand. Consumers will not open up their wallets to any right of the dot offerings, this also includes the vaunted gTLD Brand savior. This slow moving Train Wreck is gathering Speed ! Count on consumers emotional responses not gTLD Hype.

The whole concept is targeted towards extorting end users, they see the controversy behind “suck” names where oodles of time and dollars are spent on udrp’s chasing them and decide, “hey, not only can we make a quick buck but since we’re catering to companies let’s hit them hard!”.

It .sucks that such acts of greed can and will ruin an entire industry by placing a negative spotlight on us. If you have studied Real Estate you know the extensive government placed regulations around owning, buying and selling, these acts will only expedite the placement of similar rules.

A percentage of TLDs will be successful. A lot of great things will surface with new TLDs. .sucks will fail as it should. We will look back and realize that .com laid a few tiles necessary to create a better overall strategy for brand holders. Give it time for flops to flop and bulbs to blossom. Most important question is; will brand holders act during the “right” sunrise periods. TMCH is a good 1st step.

    Hey major corporations with poor customer service….As soon as “Sucks” came out of Congress’ mouth I bought the sucks.directory. I’ll charge you %25 and split half with a charity in your name if you act like big boys. Don’t buy. They will go away and at least I’m cutting you a deal on extortion and it’s for a good cause ;)… We could essentially ruin the .sucks extension through the power of my directory, should we feel the need. {SEO Tip Placed}

The cool thing is, once voxpopuli.sucks is registered, you can still register populi.sucks and use the vox.populi.sucks subdomain. Thought further, how about monetarizing capitalism criticism, the capitalist way: just register inc.sucks and corp.sucks and sell the subdomains (apple.inc.sucks, google.inc.sucks, microsoft.corp.sucks, monsanto.corp.sucks…)…
