“Anyone that doesn’t get value from TRAFFIC is either blind or dead.” Michael Gilmour 2010

Morning Folks!

Last week we ran a contest for a Cabana at TRAFFIC South Beach:

'T.R.A.F.F.I.C. SOUTH BEACH will be as hot as South Beach itself. Our Security Guards will have the best legs on the beach. But, before the show even starts, T.R.A.F.F.I.C. will be giving away a free Poolside Cabana to the Domainer who can explain to folks why T.R.A.F.F.I.C. is virtually free because of all the business they do. Perhaps just one event that changed your destiny. One deal that will pay you forward for a lifetime. What value did that really have as opposed to the expense of coming? Just send us a short story or essay by midnight tomorrow by return email. Winner will be announced later this week.

Each cabana will come stocked with a bottle of Champagne, bottles of water and soda, a flat screen T.V. (to watch football, of course), 6 Chairs, towels and of course service by one of our HOT cabana girls. The T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Cabana Girls will make your weekend a little more enjoyable. A little more pampered. We expect more than 100 folks for the weekend before the show even starts.'

And the winning comment came to this from a guy that travels half the world to come TRAFFIC and has done it as much or more than anyone.

Michael Gilmour Wins TRAFFIC Contest for Poolside Cabana!!!

'Anyone that doesn't get value fromTRAFFIC is either blind or dead.'
Michael Gilmour of ParkLogic.com

Congratulations to Michael for telling it like it is! I am sure Michael wants to invite ALL domainers to HIS cabana for some fun with the girls of Modelstore.com. :-)

And Mr. Gilmour is right of course and everyone knows it. That's why TRAFFIC means BUSINESS! That's why a guy that pays much more to get to TRAFFIC than anyone else can make a statement like this and leave his home and family for a 24 hour flight each way for almost every show.

Have a GREAT Day!

Congrats to Michael. While he finds enough value in T.R.A.F.F.I.C. to travel half way around the world to be there time after time, he is also one of those exceptionally knowledgeable guys who brings a ton of value WITH him – value that he has always generously shared with other attendees. If anyone deserves a special place to relax and hangout on South Beach, it is him.

So I take it that a blind person would not be welcome at Traffic?
Your trumpeting of a rather juvenile statement from Michael Gilmour displays both an insensitivity towards people with a disability and an open willingness to gain from it.

At first I considered your statement Lawrance. Then I figured out that you need to get a life. It’s a slogan. A saying. Do a Google search of the way in which the term”Blind” was used.
You are a oversensitve to living. But I do apologize to all the”Dead” who I beleive should come together and form a class action suit against me. :-)

Blind as used without rference to blind folks: Performed without preparation, experience, or knowledge.

I was not offended by the statement, but I am neither dead nor blind. So the statement is not factual buy just someone’s opinion. As such, the reputation, credibility, and professionalism of the person should be considered before passing judgement with your own opinion.
My opinion is that it’s just designed to make others feel like they are missing out and drive up attendance/bidders. While it may be good, if attendance is sufficient, there is no need for statements like that. I don’t see that I will ever go, but if I had the means, things like this would reduce my motivation. But that’s the opinion of one domainer in Minnesota whose portfolio mostly contains multi-word, hyphen-infested, .biz, .cn, & .us domains purchased at $1 starting bid auctions at Namepros.com. Somehow, I still have self-esteem…

TRAFFIC isn’t for everyone. Its more of a social gathering among domainers to network, have a good time, buy and sell some domains and at the very least, learn something they didn’t know. People who buy dollar domains let alone domains in the low $xx to low $xxx will never see the value in what networking can do for ones self knowledge and or further advancement in domaining or monetization.
