The 5 Year Nap. 2007-2012. Gut Instinct. Let’s Look Back to See Forward

Morning Folks!!

In 2007 I wrote about the smartest thing we could do was to 'Take a 5 Year Nap'. See I believed that the period we were going through was not going to be the biggest 5 years. However when we emerged from that period, domain names would finally be recognized for the asset they truly are. I have no reason to believe my timetable is wrong. The worst is likely behind us and the future starts with a domain name whether anyone likes it or not.

Baby born today. Got to get their domain name or they may automatically be at a disadvantage. You may even pick the babies name depending on the availability of that domain name. My how times have changed. And while we have been at it for many years, the MASSES are just coming. Business is just coming. Ideas are just coming.

So my post from the summer of 2007 is going to fully ripen in just another 12-18 months.

Enjoy!

Have a GREAT Day!

    Hello Rick,
The asset of choice for the past decade (2000-2010) was Domain names! If you had money in stocks you did not even break even for this time period.Gold did somewhat better but paled in comparison to domain names. Because of this we have been collecting institutional investors in our domaining game. This is only going to accelerate through the coming decade. Is it too late? We are in the halfway point of the first inning.
My prediction is before this is all over even the advertising industry will be aggressive buyers. The Internets foundation is built on Domain Addresses and you cannot advertise that fact away.

    Hello Rick,
    Saving Your ASS-ets:
We predict a blood bath in the Bond Market, dead ahead, which in turn will alert the small investor, once again, that they have made another mistake in regards to timing and positioning of their retirement accounts in so called safe assets (BONDS). This will ultimately result in chasing away small investors and yes Rick this will also reflect negatively on the stock market.
Your time frame for all of this to unwind 18 Mos.,sounds totally resonable. You are more than likely”Dead Balls On”

I’ve been passionate/Obsessive about domains the past 13-14 years. I’ve come across your sites etc. in the past and I used to think you were arrogant and when you started writing on this blog I’d swear your writing drunk.I especially didn’t like how you wanted to raise the prices for your conferences awhile back to keep the little guy out, My perceptions changed after seeing videos of you, You genuinely seem like a good guy. I guess you can’t judge a persons character by the way they write :) Then again I don’t really know you. T
