JointVentures.com Releases First Set of Domain Names.

Morning Folks and Happy New Years!!

While the rest of the world is getting over last night, we are already busy preparing for what we expect will be a very successful project in JointVentures.com.

Here is the first group of domains we are releasing publicly. What we are looking for is a very narrowly defined group of domains not only capable of being leased but attractive enough to be leased or partnered with.

Great Idea + Great Domain Name + Energetic and Passionate Partners = Best Chance at Great Success

Great Idea + Confusing or second rate Domain Name or extension + Energetic and Passionate Partners = Who knows and maybe who cares.

Just this one variable has the POWER to change the destiny of ANY project.

This is our first group of about 100 3rd party names as well as about 100 of mine. My success is YOUR success. We don't get to pick which ones pop first. We get to offer what we have and the vision we see along with our partners that are nearly 100 strong and comprise some of the most seasoned domainers in the business. A virtual Who's who of domainers because they too share my vision and want us to succeed. Their success is OUR success.

We will release the next group in the next days and by January 31st we will have announced all inventory and we will close further submissions so we can focus on the next phase. We know we have to demonstrate deals and we know we have until TRAFFIC in May to produce some results. That gives us about 100-120 days to move mountains! So when we hit 300 third party domains, we are closing it off. We are not out to tie up inventory. We are just looking for enough inventory to be meaningful and to create a winning formula between domainer and end user.

Is it a perfect list? No. But it is a starting point and the market will grade us. As we demonstrate deals, good deals, solid deals, BIG DEALS, then I am sure things will cure themselves. The next list of 100 is quite strong so wait to see everything we have before making judgements. Once we have the signed contracts we can list publicly. Some we can't make public for another 10 days but I PROMISE you they are top notch.

As we choose the last 50 domains we will be EXTREMELY Picky. So while we won't be able to take many or even most of the submissions, we have decided to make a database of submitted domains that did not make the cut but have obvious value. That way if we do have a call for that sector we don't have to say no.

Some of these domains are to be leased while others will be looking for solutions. So like I said, we look at domains through a different lens because we are trying to do something different.

For example SoccerBalls.com. Our end user formula and marketing strategy for SoccerBalls.com calls for an amount of money each year to go towards buying soccer balls for disadvantaged youths in a third world country. There is more than one way to climb a mountain.

We have other domains that are just more favorable to leasing. Either way there is an opportunity for Joint Ventures between the domain owner and us as well as the owner and end user. We are out to transform domains earning $100-$500 a YEAR into making $1000-$5000 and more per MONTH. To take domains making $1,000- $10,000 per MONTH and transform then into long term relationships with an exit strategy based on a creative formula that I personally create PLUS earn at least 10X more than they do today.

As you get to know Danny Welsh, you will know why I have put my trust in him to pull this wagon far beyond what many of us thought possible. This is an impressive fellow with a great work ethic and in it for the long term. He makes nothing unless we make something! Even the deal with Danny took many months to hammer out. It is a long term deal because we have a long term vision. A vision that we both share and everyone should be wishing us great success. Our success really is YOUR success. The chance to finally empower us again and take our destiny back in our control.

Happy New Years!

There are some great ones, some ‘OK’ ones and a few ‘good luck’ ones on the list. Either way, I think leasing is the best way to make a win / win for the end user and the domain holder.
Best of luck on this new venture.

You should set up a stellar marketing company to do SEO, social and web development next to your JV business. Reason being, the hardest part in business is to get someone’s ear. Most people you will talk with would have no interest in JV but, if you get their ear you at least can market them other viable web services for their business.

My fav ranked is along these lines:
    Rings.com
    Stuff.com
    TaxPlanners.com
    Weights.com
    ShoeRack.com
    WholesaleSupply.com
    Physical.com
    SelfEmployed.com
URL’s like ShoeRack if properly picked up by the classic SME looking to go nationwide / global etc could go for lots and lots. These are Candy type names. We have TieRack which is a huge chain.

Hello Rick, Happy New Year !!
There has been a evolving niche market place that will soon be on the scene. This new need based niche will produce and support ad campaigns for Virtual Business Foundations. Your evolving JointVentures.com just might evolve that way and the sooner the better for you. You have the chance to be the first to market adopter position if you guys play your cards right. Someone will adopt this concept and run with it to huge suuccess. It will be the boon to Virtual business Foundations that we all have been waiting for.
Would you rather be right or Rich OR right and rich, The Saga Continues.

I am surprised to see a few of these made the cut. LMAO.com might have a life as a joke site, but I can’t imagine another use for it. Nope.com? I can’t see this as a category killer either. Maybe I just lack a little imagination.

It’s pretty gratifying to see what looks kind of like Rick’s old famous 18 wheelers up a hill story coming into focus among a domain community that’s coming together to make a statement to Corporate America on the opportunity they still have to align their company with one of if not THE best generic domain names for their category, and a statement to Madison Avenue advertising agencies on the opportunity they missed forever.
Good feedback, everyone. Keep it coming.

    Hello Danny,
Our prediction is that Madison Avenue Advertising Agencies will, in the very near future be, active buyers and Rabid fans SHORTLY. All they have to do is buy the right vehicle for the paradigm shift ahead. We are witnessing the early stages of Virtual Business Foundations being realized as the most powerfull marketing tools or foundation which they can build their future ad campaigns on.

    Sergio,
Glad you asked and we don’t believe it is for various reasons that I won’t go into publicy.
But now that we have fought the ridiculous in the form of”Reverse Domain Name Hijacking”, I think we can focus on the fine line of trademark law that for some reason has been ignored many times over the years online. We are ready to make our case why we are on safe turf should that happen and we get challenged. However I don’t think that will happen.

Advertising agencies are not pushing domains onto companies, the day that domains really take off main stream in the way that Rick envisages will be if/when agencies are push the concept onto the end user.
The last idea that agencies pushed onto their clients was ‘social’ and they convinced Fortune 500 CMO’s & CEO’s that pushing consumers onto a third party platform where they had no control was the way forward, now FB desperate to make money is charging those same advertisers who have built up a following, some by paying directly to FB to do so, to interact with their own followers.
Now you would think that there would be some accountability between company and agency but there is not. The company either changes at the top or they change agency and the same ideas are pushed onto them just repackaged. The faces change but ultimately the message stays the same.
Agencies have already moved onto their next big idea that they can sell to all their clients, it is genius because it takes the social idea that did not work and enables them to make more money off of it. It’s 7 letters, 2 words and I got a banana for anyone that guesses correctly what it is.

Agencies may not be ‘pushing’ domains onto companies but that is only a function of a sellable concept. They sold social media to companies and they have the inside running to the most senior gatekeepers of corporate strategy.
You have to orientate the right domain, with the right company with the right roll out strategy and use for that domain.

    UFO –
“They sold social media to companies and they have the inside running to the most senior gatekeepers of corporate strategy.”
Yes I agree, this is what I referenced when talking about CMOs & CEOs however with your second point let me explain something to you that you may or may not already know:
You can have”the right domain, with the right company with the right roll out strategy and use for that domain” and present it to the agency but that does not mean they will sell it as such even if they believe it to be 100% perfect. There are two reasons for this
    1. what they are getting out of it as compared to their normal route to market e.g. a country does not always buy the fighter jet that is most suitable or best but goes with the one that is made by the company that gives the most kick back.
    2. they will not go down a route to market that increases the chances of making their own positions redundant, you have to run TV campaigns till the end of time, you cannot stop as the Coca Cola case study proves. After a domain name purchase you make your own position a lot less needed, where is the ongoing 10-15% from this deal?
I am in sales, that is what I do, I am not talking about someone walks into a shop looking to buy something and I sell it to them, that’s not real sales, what I am talking about is the CEO of company X wakes up and is brushing his teeth when his phone rings and he speaks to a guy he has never had the pleasure of speaking to before in his life and next thing he is in his office sending back the paperwork on a £XXX,XXX deal. I use to deal with third parties such as these agencies but I have no time for them now, not because they are totally incompetent, I have done business through them in the past but because of 1 fact, no one will EVER believe or sell your product into an end user with the PASSION that you will.

Without getting in a major strategy debate lets just say I have quite a bit of experience on M&A.
Advertising agencies have a lot to gain via additional digital media channels. In fact there is far more services to sell because it’s a far more complex area than simple print radio and TV.
Why Advertising agencies don’t push domains is because they can’t push strategy. They can talk the talk but they don’t know the substance of real business. A domain is just the tip of the iceberg. Also, new ventures are risky, large corporates are risk adverse simply because their own jobs depend on not hashing things up more than taking beneficial risks.
I don’t see the current ‘domain industry’ having the required skill set and business models to effectively engage with large corporates. I do think they can engage with SMEs simply because they are self made and can see the ideas without the pretence. Large corps generally buy these SMEs anyway, its less risk adverse to their own jobs.

Be careful saying domain leasing is somehow”new”. ;)
Leasing assets is thousands of years old. And specifically with domain names, Rick was making over a million dollars a year leasing domains as early as 1998. He didn’t have a broker, just did it himself.
In some coming guest posts, I’d like to explain what I believe about why some companies that attempted to”lease domains” as a service for others in the past have crashed and burned. Rick will likely chime in about the differences in timing and his 20 year plan.
Truth is…many other generic domain owners have quietly been doing leasing their best domains for years, and the trend has accelerated with timing.
One day it’s my hope and Rick’s that we can help pave public acceptance of lease/JV domain deals, so others who did not have the foresight to buy category domains starting in 1994 can benefit. But that’s down the road!
Our goal with JointVentures.com is not revolutionary, but evolutionary in my opinion.
Speed up that evolution by demonstrating deals, and rallying together some of the top portfolio domain owners in the world who along with Rick himself resolve to get a”How much to buy that domain in the window?” inquiry and confidently say”Not for sale, lease only” as many times as it takes to attract and execute the right”highest and best use” deal with the right company and leave no money on the table.

    Hello UFO
I concurr with most of your asertions, they are solid business assertions. I think you would agree with my assertion that Domainers include Google, Apple, IBM and would you be so kind to finish the list?
The skill sets are imbedded in the beast, you broadly brush as DOMAINERS, of which we can proudly boast are an elite bunch, even in thneir underwear. The very foundation on which great businesses are built start at their Virtual Business Foundation, which by the way is their main squeaze to unlimited traffic patterns that funnel into mass marketing returns.
Domainers are LARGE CORPORATIONS, contraty to popular belief. The FOUNDATIONS of mass marketing do not exist without the starting point”Virtual Business Foundations”
Don’t believe it? Ask them all what they would do diconnected from their .COM foundation?
